The Word and Its Beauty By Brenda Drake

The Word of God is one of the greatest gifts received when its truth is opened up to the mind.  I hunger to hear the Spirit’s whisper in my heart, then when it is confirmed by the written promises in the Bible its wondrous love is cemented firmly in my heart.  No one can take its guarantee of God’s favor from me.

The Word and its Beauty

Valuable lessons written down,
Are seen as precious jewels found.
As you reach out to their beauty touch,
I urge you to pick them up.
Examine them closely to their full value perceive,
Do not carelessly lay them aside; treat them as a gift received.
Take them and place them in a safe place,
Where they are accessible to be later again embraced.
Keep precious truth in the vault of your heart under the Spirit’s care;
When its wisdom is needed He will remind you it is still there.
Devour the Word and taste its sweetness to make you fat.
You will have wisdom to share with others that find they have lack.
To those who also hunger and thirst after God’s Will;
You are like the mother that urges her family to be filled.
Your larder is well stocked; lessons of life are put to test,
Combined with the truth of the Scripture’s promises.
Eat more and more do not tire of its taste,
And you are filled with God’s love to show forth His amazing grace.
Read, study, and apply the truth of God’s Word to your life,
And you will indeed be in a dark world a bright shining light.
