Hold out Things worth Taking By Brenda Drake

Hold out Things worth Taking

Hold out things worth taking, give good things away.
If you hold out junk then it will with you stay.
By the world’s standards it may seem good,
But by God’s measure it may not be as it should.
Good advice is worth keeping – give it away;
A good word others will gladly receive each day.
In God’s kingdom to give is to receive
So give away what it is that you need.
Hold out kindness – you will find you’re kinder too,
Hold out compassion and it is added unto you.
Sing praise and you will be praised for what you have done.
Hold out things worth taking and you are held by God’s Son.
Life is a struggle but do not hold on too tight,
Offer it to Jesus as a sacrifice.
A sacrifice worth keeping; well used by God above;
For your life is a testament of His love.
God offers life everlasting, and you gladly received.
He held out salvation; you saw and believed.
He came and drew you to His touch.
He offered you joy and peace and you opened up.
Hold out the invitation God held out to you,
And others will come to the wedding feast too.
Remember this word of advice, and Word will before you stand.
When you reach out He will take your hand.

Luke 8:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again

Jewels of Time By Brenda Drake

Dream-Treasure-Chest_web

        When  look ahead through eyes of faith, expecting the best even  in times of difficulty,  I  believe there are brighter days ahead.     Life is a gift.  When  we trust God our life is  filled with precious jewels to enrich our life.

Jewels of Time

I look for diamonds in the sands of time.
Jewels of revelation in my heart and mind.
I hunger for the wisdom prepared for me
I ask for God’s help and ability
I serve a supernatural God with no limits to His power.
I will be His hand extended in the world’s last hour.
In God’s Word many things as yet are undetected;
I will in this life expect the unexpected.
All of life’s journeys are mapped out by Him.
The most high, most Holy, my God and friend.
As I walk by faith I see streets of gold shining bright;
The diamonds I search for are in My Savior’s eyes;
Eternity beacons with promise in every breath
I have full confidence God is not finished with me yet.
So I will praise Him in the sunshine and in the rain;
As I search for the jewels that in this life remains.
I need the Lord every minute of every hour.
I cannot breathe without His sustaining power.
All praise and glory I bring to the Lord and King.
Every chance I get I will allow my heart to sing.

2 Corinthians 4:6-7
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Love Spoke into the Darkness By Brenda Drake

I was all alone sitting in my favorite chair when a television evangelist came on television.  I was too tired to get up and change the channel, (this is before remote control.)  As I listened to his message Love indeed spoke into my darkness with salvation’s light!   Oh how I love the God that loved so much He died to save my soul.

        Love Spoke into the Darkness

Love spoke into darkness and there was light.
Love speaks into your dark place to give new insight.
Love spoke into existence the earth, the moon and the stars.
He speaks to your world …He knows where you are.
From the cross love saw the great need of your soul.
A special place in His heart you hold.
Love has given His life so you can also His love speak.
He has given His Word to the seeking heart that seeks.
Love washes you as white as new fallen snow.
His shed blood has made the redeemed new and whole.
Love speaks encouragement and will lift and edify.
Love speaks in so many ways to water the soul parched and dry.
Love’s name is Jehovah …God that supplies all you need.
His name is Jesus that saves the one that believes.
His name is Wonderful…. Lord of Lords and King of Kings.
Love speaks into a life and makes it able to His praises sing.

Genesis 1:3
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Matthew 13:23
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth,
some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Take Time to Smell the Flower By Brenda Drake

Take Time to Smell the Flower

Take time to smell the flower; enjoy the sunny day
See the beauty that surrounds you portrayed.
Make the effort to smile, sing that happy song.
Tell your friends and neighbors to whom you belong.
Listen to the one that speaks, listen to his cry.
Be sensitive to another’s hurt, and their need supply.
Look at tomorrow through eyes of today.
Do not put off things to another day.
If you dwell in yesterday’s sunshine or yesterday’s rain,
It can spoil today’s joy and can cause you inner pain.
Let love flow, wise words speak.
You become stronger when you assist the weak.
Trust your life into God’s care while upon the earth.
He will prosper your soul and give you rebirth.
Alive to the Spirit, alive to His touch,
Alive to His desires and alive to His love.
The flowers are even more fragrant; their splendor intensifies,
For you are one with the Creator – in you, He is alive.
A rose’s aroma though sweet is not as sweet to God above
As the thankful child of God that enjoys the Father’s love.

I John 5:12
He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Love’s Call By Brenda Drake

LOVE’S CALL

There is One that loves more than the mind can comprehend
He’s always calling to come to Him
His love is displayed
In everything He made
In good or bad times …He is there
In daytime or in darkness His love is not spared
In every direction His love is proclaimed
Love is constantly calling your name
Can your heart hear? Are you are able to see
That there is a God that chose to die to set you free?
The love of the Savior of the soul
Makes new, pure, more precious than the finest gold
His call when truly heard causes joy and peace within
All becomes light…great change begins
A new purpose and direction with a joyous future ahead
Led by the Spirit never needing again to be filled with dread

 Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Prison of Self By Brenda Drake

prisonth (4)

When I thought I was in charge of my own life; living as I desired, with no rules or regulations, I was really in bondage.  I was doing as the enemy of my soul desired. I was set free by the work of the cross in my behalf.

The Prison of Self

Self is like a prison; with walls of pride.
It holds a carnal nature inside.
Greed and self-adoration is fostered in this place.
Arrogance keeps the imprisoned far from God’s grace.
Lack of knowledge is encouraged too,
For, to listen to wisdom you find breakthrough.
In the prison of self it is easy to stay entrapped,
For small amounts of bitterness bring selfish attitudes back.
Anger and gossip cause walls to stronger grow.
They are all enemies of your soul.
Self-pity, doubt, and fears,
Are also rooms in the prison do you hear?
A little jealousy will also do the same.
But you are able to destroy barriers in Jesus name.
The Holy Spirit helps win the fight.
You need to keep the Lord in sight.
His love frees from the imprisoned place.
There is victory in Christ; freed by His amazing grace.

Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me;
because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek;
he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Allow God to Love You By Brenda Drake

Allow God to Love You

 Allow God to love you, heed the word of rhyme.
Give Him your attention, share your time.
Rest your weary mind, enjoy the help He gives.
Allow the Spirit to soothe your soul; so without fear you live.
Allow the peace of the Savior to sing its sweet song.
Let His joy flow inside to make you strong.
Tear down walls of bitterness, and towers of pride.
Permit the forgiving Spirit to reign inside.
Rest in the Scripture’s promises and believe in them.
Allow the love of Christ to warm from within.
Bring the sins that the enemy piles high on your back,
And agree God throws them in the sea intact.
Trust the one that loves you more than words can say.
Give Him your life and your problems so fear melts away

 Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,
and thy house.

          If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord, this is the perfect time. It is so very simple, first, admit that you are a sinner, and that you need a Savior, and tell him you believe and accept what He did for you, when He paid your sin debt and died in your place.  Ask Him to enter your heart and to live His life in you.

 He is faithful, you will never be sorry for your decision!

The Puddle By Brenda Drake

I have had periods in my life when I indeed felt like a puddle and better times
when I feel like God’s mighty river.

The Puddle

There is a river flowing from within;
It gushes with great power now and then.
This river is Living Waters of Life.
It is the Word of power and might.
Some may feel their stream has gone dry.
They have leaked away their supply.
They feel upon the earth;
As a dry river bed of little worth.
You may feel as a puddle with no water flow;
Dry down deep in your soul.
When the rains come the dry riverbed,
Fills to flow to the destination ahead.
If you feel dry begin,
To study the Word of God again.
Fill up with the truth and you will see,
You are no longer as a puddle but as a steady stream.
Filled to overflow with God’s strength inside,
A roaring river flowing from the throne revived.
A puddle has little value …you cannot wash yourself or others.
You cannot take a healthy drink or give drink to another.
The Word fills you to overflow,
With living Waters to cause benefit to hearts and souls.

John 7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Deepest Love By Brenda Drake

deep love th (4)

       When we take time to contemplate God’s majesty; all He created,  the truth of His knowledge, the marvel of the Word,  His willingness to save us, His decision to decend to a sinful world to die to pay the debt of our sin,  His invitation  to beleive in His ressurection, and to rest in His master-plan, and  His gift of Holy Spirit;  how can we not agree His is the deepest love?

Deepest Love

A love so deep, the ocean is like a puddle when compared;
So wide the universe has no room to spare;
Its description has not enough words to teach.
Eons ahead and past cannot its limit reach.
With a heart so big with a plan so grand,
No one can fully understand.
Who is man, that God places upon him the gift of His love?
Why would He look upon him with such favor from above?
He has planned to make sinful man as clean as His own Son.
He also desires to join us forever with Him as one.
It’s almost too much for me to comprehend;
He also calls us His friend.
The future is so wondrous He allows us to be of it a part.
A present so grand He decides to reside within our heart.
Such a marvel I cannot fully understand;
But I offer my life to become all He has planned.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Romans 11:33
O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Condemnation’s Heaviness By Brenda Drake

6dfaf26afdb52872cb2f88eae49a28c8

Condemnation sneaks up on us  like a snake in the grass
With God’s help burdens are lifted off our back.
The Word clears the path so the mind is able to soar,
Free to worship and praise the Lord.

Condemnation’s Heaviness

When the blanket of sadness covers the ear
All you hear or feel is the whisper of dread and fear.
If you forget how much you’re loved by the Lord
Condemnation walks confidently through the opened door.
God loves you much more than you know
He loved so much He died to save your soul.
Unwise hearts have lost truth’s light.
His love is unconditional not just if you do right
The evil one casts heaviness upon the back.
Demanding you need to it all pack.
Recognize the enemy’s tactics; refuse to accept fear or dread.
Decide to believe God’s Word instead.
Practice God’s presence…remember His gift of mercy and grace.
Then the wonderful love of God wraps in His embrace

Psalms 143:11-12
Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.  And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.
