Run to God By Brenda Drake

run to jesus 446

It is crucial to trust God when we have problems. I am not able to nor do I want to handle things on my own.  My heart runs to Him.   He is always willing and able to help in every situation.  Sometimes I feel He picks me up and carries me through my destress.   But I admit it is really most enjoyable when in faith I feel we are running together toward the victory ahead.

Run to God

Do not be afraid, if God is your friend.
Because of Jesus you can run to Him.
Jesus’ life paved the way,
So, on His path you are able to stay.
When distressed with all kinds of woe,
Run to Him; tell Him what He already knows.
When angry or bitter with another,
Run to God so you will discover,
The heart willing to forgive finds release.
Hearts are free to rest in peace,
Are you feeling alone all by yourself?
God is always near to always willing to help.
Are you weary in your toil? Do you feel weak?
Turn to God and His assistance seek.
He is willing to carry you until strength returns again.
So, in the next issue faced you are able to again run to Him.
Come when you are happy and full of joy too.
For God rejoices as He runs with you.

Psalms 37:39-40
But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.  And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked,  and save them, because they trust in him.

Tender Thoughts By Brenda Drake

There is power in the words we speak.  I am convinced there is great power in our thoughts.  If we think on good things, we will speak good things.  Jesus is the Word of God, I think I will concentrate on Him!

Tender Thoughts

Tender thoughts are sweet to taste,
The words are as a soothing embrace.
Gentle, flowering sacrifices offered in prayer.
Love has shown its face to the God that cares.
The perfume of sacrifice fills the atmosphere.
Holy anointing proves God is near.
A sigh of peace in God’s comfort rests;
Heart and mind convinced to watch for God’s best.
The eyes search for any sign,
To discern to follow as God designs.
The face lifts for heaven’s kiss,
As the coal is placed on unholy lips.
Praise, worship, and wisdom will depart,
From lips of the one with yielded heart
Tender words, kind and full of respect,
Can a good harvest expect.
Practice makes perfect – with God’s help within,
Vessels are made as pure as God already sees them.
Follow the example of Jesus; He loved man so much,
He thought tender thoughts as on the cross He touched.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Walls, Walls, Walls By Brenda Drake

Forgive us Lord, and heal our land.

Walls, Walls, Walls

Walls are built up to keep people in, and some are erected to keep the world away.
Some are built to protect what is their’s and to keep enemies at bay.
Walls are barriers made of brick, stone, or clay.
Whatever they are made of they are meant to stay.
Walls are built inside of people too; you see it all the time,
For the many reasons already defined.
There are walls of deception, walls of unbelief,
Walls of self-protection; walls high and deep.
When a man or a woman repents and turns to God above;
The walls of self-reliance are replaced with a wall of love.
Jesus becomes your Hightower; He your battles fight.
He becomes your Savior, and causes your heart delight.
His wall of protection is clear to see through.
So the World is able to see His light shining through you.
If my people would humble themselves and pray, God again will heal the land.
I am your wall of protection just as always planned.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Psalms 91:9
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge,
even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

Out with the Old and in with the New By Brenda Drake

Happy New Year!

walk-with-jesus-01Out with the Old in with the New

Happy New Year is the greeting of the day.
It is almost like a prayer that we say.
Out with the old and in with the new,
Taking care to draw precious memories even closer to you.
This is a new day, but really, every day is a new start;
With opportunities to make new resolutions in the heart.
We may say we will stop a bad habit and begin a habit new,
But truly each new day is a fresh beginning to walk into.
One step at a time with trust, hope, faith and a thankful prayer,
That the God that loves you walks with you there.
My desire for you in the New Year that begins;
That you happily look forward to walk through it with Him.

Flower Power By Brenda Drake

flower power

It is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Savior.  God sent Jesus, the flower from heaven, as a gift to us, so we can be a flower sent to bless another.  Is not the love of God wonderfully simple and yet so complex?  When we offer our life to bless others God is glorified and we then are a gift delivered back to Him.  Merry Christmas, be blessed and thankful for a love such as this.

Flower Power

Delivered to the door the flower arrives to bless,
With an assuring note or sometimes its message is like a kiss.
Flower power visits with an aroma that lasts,
Long after its beauty has passed.
Flower power is real, it arrives at all times in life.
At birth, and death, and in between to cause the heart delight.
When you are the flower God send to another,
You make it real for love to be discovered.
You too will give assurance and will bless in time of need.
Your words are flowers that have abundant seeds.
So go forth spreading all the love given to you,
So others will grow to be a flower sent too.
Delivered to the door of heaven one day as a gift to God’s Son;
A life well lived leaving behind a kiss for someone.

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Christmas-time Antisipation By Brenda Drake

Christmastime Anticipation

Christmastime anticipation is in the air.
Excitement bubbles in children’s hearts almost everywhere.
Heaven smiles down when they see and hear,
Thanks and praise for Jesus, as Christmas day draws near.
When the poor and rich walk side by side,
Getting in the spirit of love, God is glorified.
The rich reach out to help the poor.
And the poor offer their all to honor the Lord.
Love fills stockings hung with care,
With good things to be shared.
Wrapped presents retell God’s gift bestowed,
The holy child wrapped in love’s swaddling clothes.
The babe grew to hang on a rugged tree;
To give His all to share His life with thee.
Songs of joy from grateful heart rings,
A gift offered to honor Christ our now risen King.
Christmas-time is by the wise honored and savored;
Lovingly spent with family, friends and neighbors.

Luke 2:12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped
In swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

The Jewel By Brenda Drake

Behold the Jewel of heaven.

The Jewel

Precious jewels are gifts many hope to recieve.
Some appreciated gifts are things that you need.
But some do not give gifts at this time,
For they have no joy at Christmastime.
Perhaps the Christmas story never reached their heart’s ears,
Or they, the miracle of Jesus refuse to hear.
But I tell you the story in this rhyme again,
Jesus is the promised Jewel sent from heaven to men.
The Pearl of great price – God’s pure, Holy Son,
Born of a virgin, was the Most Holy One.
God gave to man what he needed most.
The shepherds were heralded by the heavenly host.
The angels sang “Peace on Earth”; and the star showed the way
To the manger where the Jewel of Heaven lay.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christmas Story from Heavens Point of View By Brenda Drake

How beautiful is the Christmas story.  It is even more meaningful
from heavens point of view.

From Heaven’s View-Point

When the Christmas story is told from heaven’s point of view
Perhaps you will see better the gift bestowed on you.
The Father had placed His greatest in the care of man.
The Creator was in His creations hands.
The most precious, pure, and holy was placed,
In the young mother’s clumsy embrace.
The sweetest was sent to the world gone sour,
Born to die; to be by the earth devoured.
The Father’s wisdom into the babe was richly poured,
To be reviled by most and by some greatly adored.
The babe lay in a manger with stench to surround.
Beautiful baby born, so the truth could be found.
Angels sang an anthem of praise;
The star lit the sky to show the way.
Heaven held its breath at such love…

One Gift By Brenda Drake

One Gift

If you were to have one gift under the tree
And that gift was a gift God would receive
I wonder what it would consist of.
How would it communicate your love?
Who would open it?  Where would it go?
If it was a gift for God I would truly want to know?
Could it be for the neighbor that has had a hard year?
Or perhaps it is for the one lonely with a heart full of unshed tears?
Or for the one that warms a bench always in plain sight
That has a blank stare whose eyes have lost their light?
If you were to deliver it would you just lay it down?
Or would you show honor as you place it on holy ground?
Would you make known your giving so others see,
What you bestow as an offering to your Lord and King?
Instead, would you greedily keep it ….no doubt,
As an offering to your god of self?
This word of rhyme desires to show in this special season
Christ is the gift delivered and He is the reason
He is love, peace, joy and goodwill
Share with the one special with needs to be filledWhen you give to them and in their thanks. By faith hear your Lord say,
“I am glorified by the gift you gave to me today.”

Mattew 25:34-36
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

When there’s too Much Merry in your Christmas By Brenda Drake

Have a Merry Christ, but not too merry!

When there’s too Much Merry in your Christmas

You spent way too much money and consumed a little too much wine,
You have run out energy and patience at the same time.
The Christmas decorations are lovely to see,
And you have overdone yourself on the Christmas tree.
The big day is fast approaching; dinner planned, and gifts wrapped tight.
Yes your great efforts will surely cause delight.
But you are feeling a bit dragged and a little amiss.
Perhaps you packed a little too much merry in your Christmas.
Take a rest and bask in love’s light awhile.
Think of real the reason for Christmas; allow your heart to smile.
Offer all your hard work and your life as a gift to Him.
He will give you some more merry to pack into Christmas again.
