Christmas Story Miracle By Brenda Drake

As a child there were times of joy at the prospect of Christmas day.  But later in life, after I learned the real reason for the season there is a different, deeper, kind of joy.  Now I am able to appreciate how far Jesus traveled to become mortal so He could pay our debt for our sin. Because of what He did we are now able to spend eternity with Him.

Christmas Story Miracle
By Brenda Drake

At the first sound of the baby’s cry,
The earth heard the sound of the Father’s sigh.
The holy offering in a manger lay,
The love of God was on display.
The heavens rejoiced and the angels did too.
The great plan set in motion to a greater work do.
Creation whispered at such a thing;
The earth now clothed the Creator-King.
God yet man made of clay.
Great is the mystery portrayed.
Love has come to rescue and to save the lost,
To live to die on a rugged cross.
Angels in wonder in awe stand,
As they remember the birth celebrated across the land.
Holy, holy, holy child of God born,
To restore and make whole those sin-torn.
Precious is the remembrance celebrated each year;
To many it brings great joy and held most dear.
But to some sounds of truth are pushed aside;
And again the Christmas story miracle is hidden from their eyes.

Luke 2:10-14
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace,
good will toward men.

Love is Still Alive By Brenda Drake

            Christmas-time is a special time of year.  I love the bright lights, the music, the smiles and happy greetings of Merry Christmas from strangers and friends alike.

Love is Still Alive
By Brenda Drake

Shoe boxes are passed to underprivileged on Christmas day;
Little trinkets and small things in it arrayed.
To some seemingly so mundane; but not to them.
They oh and aw at all the things packed in.
Some have many boxes under the tree,
Packed with generous offerings from friends and family.
Although there is a moment of anticipation in each gift received;
Many times there are things we really do not need.
I find that although gift-giving is nice,
It matters not a gift is expensive in price.
It matters more who is gathered to celebrate,
With us on such a special day.
As you celebrate the Father’s gift in the birth of the Lord;
Real joy is when you personally are at peace with the One adored.
Christ means many things to many about,
But the real reason for the season the wise find out.
God is love.  He is our gift of life new.
He came to earth, born to a virgin, and died for us too,
He is the love and peace that flows inside.
As we joyfully give our gifts we prove Jesus’ love is still alive.

1 John 4:15-16
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Allowed to See God’s Face By Brenda Drake

Allowed to see God’s
Face by Brenda Drake

Mother and child at her breast,
In a stable on a bed of hay rest.
Holy, royalty graced the place,
Where man was allowed to see God’s face.
The angels marveled over such a thing,
As the beheld the small babe, Prince, and King.
How could this be?
God placed in the care of humanity?
How could such a tiny package hold heaven’s breath?
How could He who was life experience death?
How could the world turn away from God’s greatest gift given?
How and why does man choose to stay lost and unforgiven?
The babe in the manger hay was made man,
To be judged and to before the Father stand.
Pure, holy, and set aside to be
The Lamb slain to set us free.
His birth, life, death and resurrection,
Have been studied and held under great inspection.
At His name all men will to their knee fall.
Some in worship and in thanks upon His name calls.
All will confess He is Lord;
Some with hearts out of tune and some in one accord.
The birth of Christ is celebrated and some eyes open to know,
The reason for the season is to illuminate Jesus is God’s gift to all men’s soul.

Colossians 1:13-15
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

The Spirit of Christmas By Brenda Drake

There is a lot more to Christmas than getting and receiving presents.  I believe it is a holy time to give praise to God, to marvel the miracle of a virgin birth, to remember why Jesus came to earth, and to acknowledge all the blessings we have received.

The Spirit of Christmas
By Brenda Drake

Gathered around the tree on Christmas morn,
To celebrate Christ on earth was born.
Gifts are shared far and wide across the lands.
But what we really need to understand;
Jesus is the greatest gift offered on a tree,
He is the eternal-gift the wise will receive.
Songs of good cheer are shared by some.
And melodies of praise lift to glorify God’s Son.
The lights of wonder in children’s eyes are a delight to behold;
As the true meaning of Christmas-time is retold.
In wonder the innocent delight in the manger-birth;
With hearts open they believe God came to earth.
Gathered lovingly together many God’s great love perceives.
Then the Spirit of Christmas is by them received.

Psalms 92:1-4
It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre. For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

Gift Extravagant and Plain By Brenda Drake

            How I love the Christmas season with all the bright -lights, joy, and worship music.  It seems love, peace, and good-will fills the air. It would be wonderful if we could experience it year-round.

Gift Extravagant and Plain

The world observes the birth of Christ,
But not all welcome Him in their life.
They may decorate a tree,
And place a star above to see,
But do not acknowledge the One that died on the tree for them.
They treat the Christmas story as a legend.
They pass their gifts extravagant and plain,
Without honoring the One most-magnificent the angels proclaimed.
Jesus arrived as a precious gift wrapped in skin,
Holy proclaimed King by those who beheld Him.
As the day approaches set aside to bring Him glory.
Profit comes in the telling of the Christmas story.
You live in trying times with some little pleasures along the way,
But know the Babe celebrated, lived, died, rose and is alive today.
He sits at the Father’s side observing things great and small.
In the hearts of the wise they know He sees it all.
Come and bow now at the feet of the One you adore;
Knowing one day every knee will bow and declare Jesus is Lord.

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

No Tree, No Lights By Brenda Drake

            We look forward to the Christmas season, with opportunity to celebrate the birth of our Lord and our Savior.  But we need to be aware that many are in great need and indeed have sorrow at this time of year.  Some choose not to put up a lighted tree, but some have no choice, they just cannot.

No Tree, No Lights
By Brenda Drake

No tree, no lights, no inner peace.
No love, no joy, but much in need.
The world passes by unaware,
But if they do see many do not care.
Tents are a popular gift received by some.
But it is a great need to some.
New bedding, new clothes, and new shoes to wear;
Add to their collection with little room to spare.
There are those who have desire for them too.
To some their greatest gift would be a pair of shoes.
They are the forgotten ones in a world that sparkles and shines.
They are those who cry at Christmas-time.
Jesus was born in a stable, and lie on a bed of hay.
He was even before He was born turned away.
The humble of heart heard the Angels sing;
The heavens were aware of the new-born King.
The star shined its light on the One to be nailed to the tree.
The wise men offered gifts and worshiped the One who would set them free.
Mary marveled at the beauty of God’s gift at her breast.
Surely the world would One day celebrate God’s gift.
There are many that celebrate with hearts in tune with God’s Son;
In thanks and praise they rejoice at all He has done.
But, many forget the reason
They are celebrating the Christmas season.
As you remember the birth of Jesus and give gifts to one another.
Just as The True Gift reached out to you, you should care for your brother.

1Timothy 6:18-19
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

The Gift Arrived on Time By Brenda Drake

The Gift Arrived on Time
By Brenda drake

There is a story to tell of a Father’s gift,
That traveled farther than the mind can comprehend.
Priceless ….only one of a kind,
Never to be replaced…impossible again to find.
So precious it’s arrival was announced to multitudes about.
And a star stopped by in worship to it’s light shine out.
Not to a mansion rich was this gift bestowed,
But in a stable wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Cattle witnessed the arrival of God’s Son,
Born of a virgin to die for the sins of everyone.
He needed to grow to offer His life one day.
So our sin and our debt could be washed away.
The gift was sent when the truth
Of the Father’s gift was revealed to you.
When you fully comprehend the wonder and the grace.
The gift arrived on time…salvation takes place.
What a wonderful story is shared in heaven each day.
When one accepts the Father’s gift…and carries His glory away
Born anew it all begins again.
For now you as a part of Him is a gift He sends.
To deliver the truth to another.
So the true Christmas story is discovered.

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

From Heavens Point of View By Brenda Drake

Jesus willingly came to earth.  The Father, the Spirit , and the Son agreed it was the only way we would be able to spend eternity with God.  This then is the Christmas Story from heaven’s point of view.

From Heavens Point of View

The Christmas Story told from heavens point of view;
Perhaps will reveal the Gift bestowed on you.
The Father had sent His greatest in the care of man.
The Creator was placed in His creation’s hands.
The most precious and holy was placed,
In the young mother’s clumsy embrace.
The sweetest was sent to the world gone sour;
Born to die; to be by the earth devoured.
The heavenly Father’s wisdom in this babe is richly poured;
He is reviled by most and by some adored.
A beautiful child; born so the truth could be found.
The babe lay in a manger with stench surround,
The star lit the sky to show the Way.
Angels sang an anthem of praise,
Heaven held its breath at such love displayed;
God’s provision for those lost to be saved.
The Christmas story and the Resurrection story ahead yet to come;
In the eye of heaven they are all seen as one.
The One born to die, raised victorious so the lost could be born anew,
He finishes the Christmas story when He comes back for you.

Philippians 2:5-11
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Gift Most Magnificent By Brenda Drake

            Have you kind of lost the Christmas Spirit this year?  I know it has been a hard year with many ups and downs; but Christmastime is a most magic time of year.  Place all that is bothering you in Christ’s hands.  Allow Him to bring peace and joy to your celebrations with family and friends.

Gift Most Magnificent

The whole world observes the birth of Christ;
But not all welcome Him in their life.
They may decorate a tree
And place a star above to see,
But do not acknowledge Jesus died on a tree for them;
And think the story of the men wise was just a legend.
They pass out gifts extravagant and plain;
Without honoring the One most magnificent to the earth came.
He arrived as a precious gift wrapped in human skin.
He was holy and proclaimed King by those who beheld Him.
As the day approaches, set aside to bring God glory,
Watch for the profit that comes in the Christmas story.
You live in a trying time with small pleasures along the way.
But know, the babe celebrated, lived, died, and rose is alive and well today.
He sits at the Father’s side observing things great and small.
In the hearts of the wise they know He sees it all.
Come and bow down at the feet of the One you adore;
Know, one day every knee with bow and declare Jesus is Lord.

Luke 2:10-11
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

Philippians 2:10-11
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Both God and Man Portrayed By Brenda Drake

            What a wonderful gift bestowed upon us the day Jesus was born, no wonder the angels sang. But the price He paid for our salvation was so terrible the earth shook and the heavens wept.  I am at awe of such love, and such amazing grace.  How can a saved heart not sing?

Both God and Man Portrayed

The baby that in the manger lay,
Was God and man on display.
His tiny feet would one day grow,
To be nailed to a cross to save man’s soul.
The Holy Promise was by the angels proclaimed.
At His death curses spat out His name.
As babe He was wrapped lovingly up tight as He slept.
At death hate tore His naked body with sores that wept.
Wise men visited the young child as King;
Pouring out worship and costly offerings.
The wise of the world His possessions tore away;
Casting lots they unwisely spurned The Way.
The star led the shepherds on the Holy night of birth.
At His death angels were silent and grief shook the earth.
The Holy child’s cries were attended to with care each day.
Only heartbreak was in attendance when alone He sins-debt paid.
Jesus’ birth the truly wise celebrate remembering the whole story.
As they rejoice in God’s gift they indeed give God all the glory,

John 1:9-14
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.  He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
