Prepare By Brenda Drake

I have started on a path I thought I was prepared to travel but when obstacles came I became confused if I was going in the right direction.   When we follow after God we need to be prepared to stop or continue on as we trust the leading of God. I am slowly learning not to be blown away by adverse circumstances.  As I spend time in God’s Word I know He is faithful to help me through whatever I need to face.

Prepared

Be prepared, help comes from above.
Great is God’s provisions; watch for His love.
How are you to prepare you ask?
Look ahead and do not look back.
Set your face to reach your goal;
Know and trust God is of your life in control.
Forgive daily; every offence shed,
With a song of praise, forge on ahead.
Clear your heart and cleanse your mind.
Leave all preconceived ideas behind.
The air becomes foggy with the smoke of unfulfilled desire;
Throw them away into God’s eternal fire.
Allow new revelations to surface at each new days start.
With God’s assurance and proof He dwells in your heart.
Be prepared to hear the still voice within,
With full evidence the wisdom comes from Him.
Walk forward with purpose in your step.
Knowing with full confidence He is not finished with you yet.
Much lie ahead you are not yet able to see;
But to be fully prepared you must trust God is leading thee.

Ephesians 6:14-18
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Why Can They Not See? By Brenda Drake

There is good and there is evil. There is only one that we choose as our master.  When Jesus is Master we need to follow in His footsteps.  There should be a clear picture of who we belong too.  We wonder why people do not see Jesus; perhaps it is because we cannot see how we are portraying Him.

Why Can They Not See?

Why do My children quarrel, grumble, and complain?
Do they not realize they bring dishonor to their claim?
Why do they get hurt so easily; their feelings all tender and sore?
Do they believe they are not to die-to-self anymore?
Why are hearts hard, with built up walls of mistrust?
Why can they not see they defeat the way of the just?
Why do they pick apart instead of building each other up high?
They do not see they tear themselves apart to become dead and dry.
Love one another, is My command; as you love your own soul.
Put away the warring tools of the devil: you must let them go.
Throw unpleasant and the jealous spirits aside.
Sing a joyful song and with harmony abide.
Place others first and you will see,
That you behave the way God intend you to be.

Romans 6:13
Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Carry On By Brenda Drake

`           Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  This poem tells us much the same Godly advice.  Do not cave in, do not stop; trust the help of the One that kept on the path to finish His good work in our behalf on the cross.  Whatever comes we must set our face and our heart to carry on, to finish the work set before us; with His help we are victorious!

Carry On

Carry on warriors; battles rage day and night;
If you persevere, the enemy takes flight.
Carry on child, great strength is on your knees.
Pray the Word; praise and trust wins you victories.
Carry on weary traveler that walks the harsh land below.
Tell others of the Savior that died to save their soul.
Carry on – continue the work you have begun,
That gives glory and honor to your Savior, God’s Son.
Do not tarry, ready yourselves for the Bride Grooms returns.
Know overcomers a great honor earns.
Carry on watchmen, tell others what you see.
Give them the warnings I give to thee.
Carry on all who listen, the Word tells you the same.
For all that continues, receives a new name.
All that overcome in the trials of life shall see;
The great arrival of Jesus, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings
All that carry on shall not be alone any more
For the One that is and was, will be with you forever more

Revelations 3:21
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

John 15:7-9
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

When the Heart Stops By Brenda Drake

            The joy of the Lord is my strength; my life is full, and holds promise and purpose.  However I remember clearly when I felt dead, dark, and weak.  I found little satisfaction in my life.  I still have difficult times but I am led by the Holy Spirit and my heart is able to soar with the hope of the promise of new life in each day’s start.

When the Heart Stops

When the heart stops there is certain death.
Life as you know it no longer can you expect.
Many have already given up in life;
Their heart still ticks but something just is not right.
The heart has no hope and joy has fled.
They cannot bear to look back and do not desire to look ahead.
Hearts throb with the dull beat of despair;
In a world dark with broken dreams and things unfair.
When the heart of hope stops…death makes its claim.
There is one remedy; it rests in Jesus’ name.
Jesus is Life, The Truth and The Way.
Place your hope in Him – He is the Word for your day.
Because of Jesus and all He has done,
There is victory ….the battle is already won!
Despair is very wretched and should never be.
Trust Jesus; depression’s dark existence will not overtake thee.
Then when the heart truly stops beating and you walk on the other side,
Joy continues for the “Heartbeat of Heaven” forever within you abides.

John 14:6;
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
 unto the Father, but by me.

John 5:25-26
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself

Why Not? By Brenda Drake

            We hear grumbling and complaining on every side.  We whine about the condition of the world and yet will not change our little part of the world.  Why not? If we truly desire a better world we need to not be a part of the problem. Lord soften our heart and give us eyes to see and to hear the truth that will set us free to better serve You.

Why Not

If the world is not pleasing, and it’s sins horrify you so,
Why not listen to those that tell you, to of it let go?
If the heart aches and the worries of life astound,
Why not take them to the Cross and lay them down?
If the commandments of God you agree is true,
Why not allow the One that gave them abide in you?
If you feel tension in the world and you strive happiness and peace
Why not place aside prejudices that cause stress to increase?
If you recognize your sins and you see you fall short of the mark,
Why not repent and accept what the Father sent from His heart?
Why not kiss the hem of the garment of the Lord Jesus Christ?
And in return lay down your own life?
I ask you why not, because so many I see,
Only goes so far and still they are not set free.
Why not let go and give your life to Jesus the King?
For if you fail to go this far, you have missed everything.

Proverbs 23:26
My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Hebrew 3:7-8
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Harden not your hearts,:

Dear Reader By Brenda Drake

I wrote this poem many years ago; it is certainly just as relevant today.

Dear Reader

Dear Reader of this letter in rhyme,
I write this message but it is not mine.
As the world’s turmoil will increase;
Seek refuge in the Prince of Peace.
If you feel all is hopeless and feel lost
Come and seek forgiveness at the cross;
As you experience the stress of the times ahead,
Place your hope in Jesus and what the Word has said.
When hatred’s heavy hand touches your life,
Ask and you receive protection from Christ.
When the time has come for a choice,
Do not allow defeat – lift up your voice.
Lift up the name of Jesus and you will see.
That He indeed also stands up and fight for thee.
When the times are hard, lean into God’s love and care;
Read the Word and know He is of all things aware.
As you trust watch and wait – He will come through,
For He cannot lie; His Word is truth.
I end this rhyme with one more thought to write;
Watch and be ready and you will see that I am right.
Soon Jesus will appear in the clouds and turmoil and sin,
Will be overcome by His rule… on this word you can depend!

Psalms 91:1-4
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler

Each Day’s Decision Brenda Drake

            There is a battle going on each day.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Each Day’s Decision

The attack begins at each days start.
It grabs onto my mind and tries to enter my heart.
It comes in different forms but the mission is the same;
But each day my decision remains.
One day perhaps its worry and the struggle begins.
But with diligence and prayer I turn it back to Jesus again.
The world’s circumstances loom and shout out its threats,
But then my heart remembers God is in control yet.
Sickness, heartbreak, and despair come by;
But then I remember The Healer and Helper lives inside.
I am with His strength able to do what is best.
Then if I am wise I will pray and then in His presence rest.
Each day my decision is Jesus. He is my choice.
I will read the Word and I will hear His voice.
I am not nearly as strong as I think I am sometimes;
But I am stronger than I think when Jesus is kept in mind.s

Hebrews 12:1-2
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

All Because By Brenda Drake

Grace

            I was not looking to be saved.  I did not even know I needed to be saved.  I am now set aside, and have a new purpose to my life.  I did nothing to earn it and did nothing to deserve it. It is true only because my heavenly Father, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit called me to Him and set to work for me to receive such a great gift as this.

All Because

All because of a Father’s love, was mankind saved by grace.
All Because of the obedient Son my sins are erased
Because of a sacrifice on a tree upon the hill;
All because the Son of God died in my place I am fulfilled.
All because of a prayer stated in behalf of my soul;
All because ears heard from the Almighty’s throne;
All because the Spirit wooed and urged my heart to believe;
All because of God’s angels work, to help me receive.
All because of Jesus do I now write this word of rhyme.
All because of mercy and grace am I with Him aligned.
Only because He chose me and because He helped me change,
Am I free to live without bondage and shame.
All because of Him I am brand new within.
I will try to serve and do all I can to glorify Him;

Isaiah 43:10
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

God’s Promises By Brenda Drake

I used to think prayer was almost like begging for favors and pleading for mercy.  Both are and can be true but truly prayer encompasses more than that.  When we learn God’s Word and recognize His promises we have a better idea of what His divine will for us as His chosen people.  If God’s Word says it…believe it.  If we believe it then we can stand on it and with confidence speak it in our prayer-requests.

God’s Promises

As plush and as valuable as the richest thing you know;
As pure and as white as the love God bestows.
As high and as wide as the mountains and beyond;
And as sure and as true as Jesus, the Foundation strong;
The Promises of God are everything man needs.
They are definite; the truth spoken is like planting good seeds.
The promises of God is pure love expressed.
In the name of Jesus, pure-love is confessed;
Their power reaches heaven; they are based on God’s reliability.
The Promises of God are backed by wisdom and honor that must be.
The Promises of God cannot be shaken, nor can they prove untrue.
Depend upon them with all your heart; as a gift they are bestowed on you.
Offer the love you have within, and place it on your lips to God’s promises claim;
Speak out your expectations in Jesus’ name.
If it aligns with Scriptures know the answer will come.
Pray fervently for there is much work to be done.
Read, study, and learn My ways and you will see,
The promises I give will materialize for thee.

Psalms 1:1-3
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalms 119:140
Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.

He is Beautiful By Brenda Drake

            The world’s wonders all were created by the One most beautiful.  God is love and He loves to show Himself to everyone who will have eyes open to see.  He loves us so much He became a part of His creation so He could pay the sin-debt of every soul.  Every seeking heart will be able to behold the truth that will set them free to enjoy His creation with a new reborn soul.  Together we will proclaim…

He is Beautiful

There are so many things for the eyes to see;
With colors lovely, displayed endlessly.
The sky is blue some would say,
But I have seen countless color combinations on display.
The mountains can be green, brown, or white,
Blue, pink, or purple to cause the eyes delight.
Water appears blue, brown, and even looks green or gray
And the infinite tints of trees, flowers and grasses amaze.
But when a glimpse comes to reveal,
The treasure of Heaven and His touch we feel,
There is nothing that can compare to Him.
All life’s treasures are found in Him.
Jesus is beautiful, so beautiful… in wonder we become aware,
That so great, so wonderful are the gifts that He shares.
His love gave His life to offer new life to the lost.
His love suffered to pay our debt of sin on the cross.
He is beautiful, so beautiful is all my heart can say.
All I am and ever will be is in His name proclaimed.
I am free to live a life with eyes able to now behold,
The beauty this life on earth can hold.
I am able to recognize the One whose light gave sight to me,
Revealing the truth His splendor is evident in all that I see.

Zechariah 9:17
For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty!
