Flower Power By Brenda Drake

flower power

It is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Savior.  God sent Jesus, the flower from heaven, as a gift to us, so we can be a flower sent to bless another.  Is not the love of God wonderfully simple and yet so complex?  When we offer our life to bless others God is glorified and we then are a gift delivered back to Him.  Merry Christmas, be blessed and thankful for a love such as this.

Flower Power

Delivered to the door the flower arrives to bless,
With an assuring note or sometimes its message is like a kiss.
Flower power visits with an aroma that lasts,
Long after its beauty has passed.
Flower power is real, it arrives at all times in life.
At birth, and death, and in between to cause the heart delight.
When you are the flower God send to another,
You make it real for love to be discovered.
You too will give assurance and will bless in time of need.
Your words are flowers that have abundant seeds.
So go forth spreading all the love given to you,
So others will grow to be a flower sent too.
Delivered to the door of heaven one day as a gift to God’s Son;
A life well lived leaving behind a kiss for someone.

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Christmas-time Antisipation By Brenda Drake

Christmastime Anticipation

Christmastime anticipation is in the air.
Excitement bubbles in children’s hearts almost everywhere.
Heaven smiles down when they see and hear,
Thanks and praise for Jesus, as Christmas day draws near.
When the poor and rich walk side by side,
Getting in the spirit of love, God is glorified.
The rich reach out to help the poor.
And the poor offer their all to honor the Lord.
Love fills stockings hung with care,
With good things to be shared.
Wrapped presents retell God’s gift bestowed,
The holy child wrapped in love’s swaddling clothes.
The babe grew to hang on a rugged tree;
To give His all to share His life with thee.
Songs of joy from grateful heart rings,
A gift offered to honor Christ our now risen King.
Christmas-time is by the wise honored and savored;
Lovingly spent with family, friends and neighbors.

Luke 2:12
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped
In swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

The Jewel By Brenda Drake

Behold the Jewel of heaven.

The Jewel

Precious jewels are gifts many hope to recieve.
Some appreciated gifts are things that you need.
But some do not give gifts at this time,
For they have no joy at Christmastime.
Perhaps the Christmas story never reached their heart’s ears,
Or they, the miracle of Jesus refuse to hear.
But I tell you the story in this rhyme again,
Jesus is the promised Jewel sent from heaven to men.
The Pearl of great price – God’s pure, Holy Son,
Born of a virgin, was the Most Holy One.
God gave to man what he needed most.
The shepherds were heralded by the heavenly host.
The angels sang “Peace on Earth”; and the star showed the way
To the manger where the Jewel of Heaven lay.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christmas Story from Heavens Point of View By Brenda Drake

How beautiful is the Christmas story.  It is even more meaningful
from heavens point of view.

From Heaven’s View-Point

When the Christmas story is told from heaven’s point of view
Perhaps you will see better the gift bestowed on you.
The Father had placed His greatest in the care of man.
The Creator was in His creations hands.
The most precious, pure, and holy was placed,
In the young mother’s clumsy embrace.
The sweetest was sent to the world gone sour,
Born to die; to be by the earth devoured.
The Father’s wisdom into the babe was richly poured,
To be reviled by most and by some greatly adored.
The babe lay in a manger with stench to surround.
Beautiful baby born, so the truth could be found.
Angels sang an anthem of praise;
The star lit the sky to show the way.
Heaven held its breath at such love…

One Gift By Brenda Drake

One Gift

If you were to have one gift under the tree
And that gift was a gift God would receive
I wonder what it would consist of.
How would it communicate your love?
Who would open it?  Where would it go?
If it was a gift for God I would truly want to know?
Could it be for the neighbor that has had a hard year?
Or perhaps it is for the one lonely with a heart full of unshed tears?
Or for the one that warms a bench always in plain sight
That has a blank stare whose eyes have lost their light?
If you were to deliver it would you just lay it down?
Or would you show honor as you place it on holy ground?
Would you make known your giving so others see,
What you bestow as an offering to your Lord and King?
Instead, would you greedily keep it ….no doubt,
As an offering to your god of self?
This word of rhyme desires to show in this special season
Christ is the gift delivered and He is the reason
He is love, peace, joy and goodwill
Share with the one special with needs to be filledWhen you give to them and in their thanks. By faith hear your Lord say,
“I am glorified by the gift you gave to me today.”

Mattew 25:34-36
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

When there’s too Much Merry in your Christmas By Brenda Drake

Have a Merry Christ, but not too merry!

When there’s too Much Merry in your Christmas

You spent way too much money and consumed a little too much wine,
You have run out energy and patience at the same time.
The Christmas decorations are lovely to see,
And you have overdone yourself on the Christmas tree.
The big day is fast approaching; dinner planned, and gifts wrapped tight.
Yes your great efforts will surely cause delight.
But you are feeling a bit dragged and a little amiss.
Perhaps you packed a little too much merry in your Christmas.
Take a rest and bask in love’s light awhile.
Think of real the reason for Christmas; allow your heart to smile.
Offer all your hard work and your life as a gift to Him.
He will give you some more merry to pack into Christmas again.

Keeping Christ in Christmas By Brenda Drake

Keeping Christ in Christmas

Bright lighted trees line the streets with good cheer;
Signs of good tidings, with festive music to hear.
Both child and adult clearly are able to see,
That the joy of Christmas day is fast approaching.
There are songs about Santa, reindeer and sleds in the snow,
And some lively tunes of the joys of mistletoe.
You may hear a song every once and awhile,
About  the Christmas story of the virgin mother and holy child.
You may see an image of babe in a manger- frozen in time past,
To remind of Christmas’ real reason as you in wonder look back.
Sweet little children will only learn of the Holy virgin birth,
And about the Savior that left heaven to be born on earth,
From caring parents and others that faithfully Christ testify.
Christmas-times real reason is only then kept alive!

Deuteronomy 6:7
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

When the Merry has Left your Christmas By Brenda Drake

heart song th (3)

This poem is dedicated to my many friends who have a heavy heart at this time of year.

When the Merry has left your Christmas

When the merry has left your Christmas the lights do not shine as bright.
The songs of snow and mistletoe do not spark inner delight.
Hearts grieve remembering sweet Christmas’ past; gone is one most dear.
If you sing a love song you know they would hear,
Perhaps you could catch a melody returning to you,
Assuring they are celebrating Christ’s birth too.
As you see the Savior in a manger born to be lifted on a tree,
They are beholding the glory with the risen King that set you free.
As you look up to the stars, they see the stars that bow low
Like the one that led the way to the Christ child long ago.
As you pass out gifts to one another
They are beholding the face of Jesus, the world’s greatest gift to be discovered.
If you can envision the triumphant glory that now rests their face.
Then perhaps some joy will return as you feel their sweet embrace.

Revelation 21:4-5
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

The Greatest Miracle Ever Fortold By Brenda Drake

mary and baby41K1EDkF7rL

Christmastime is a celebration of more than the birth of our Savior.  It celebrates the reason He came to earth.  It celebrates His birth within us.  It celebrates the love, joy and peace He promises one day on the earth.  Some celebrate Christmas but leave out the Christ; how can this be?

The Greatest Miracle Ever Foretold

The birth of Jesus is the greatest miracle ever foretold.
The young mother in her arms the Creator would hold.
The earth that was formed by His hand,
Would feel the footsteps of the Son of man.
His appearance caused the star to shine its light.
The angels rejoiced at the entrance of the Christ.
Mankind celebrates by offering gifts to one another.
Songs of joy and goodwill are by many discovered.
But so many do not truly perceive the miracle of love at work;
Or the miracle of His life on the earth.
Many do not experience the gift bestowed upon them;
For He gives all the chance to be reborn in Him.
To truly appreciate the Christmas story,
His birth should be celebrated in two ways to give Him glory.
One of course is the way most can see,
When in a stable the virgin God’s great gift received.
But the most important Christmas miracle is when He is born within you.
Then and only then will you hold the Creator too.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
