The Day After By Brenda Drake

The day after the Resurrection; I wonder how it was treated back then. I have a feeling it was more than a one day celebration!

The Day After

The day after the Resurrection; I wonder what it was like?
After the broken-hearts were visited by His healing light?
I wonder did they dance and sing still,
With joyful celebration and hearts over-filled?

Did the people gather and prepare feasts to rejoice;
The day after they heard again their Savior voice?
I wonder how it could not be?
Surely in wonder and awe the day after was precious indeed.

 Now-days we celebrate the wonderful event long ago;
When life was freed from death’s death-hold.
We rejoice our Savior spoke in our heart new;
And celebrate Jesus is alive, not in the empty tomb.

Has the beautiful message of the Resurrection of Christ,
Become only one day set aside in our life?
What do we do the day after Easter Day?
Surely the wonderful truth forever with us stays.
He is alive!  He reigns in heaven above,
And He rules within the heart of those He is a part of.

Psalms 118:24
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalms 34:3
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

He was Lifted Up By Brenda Drake

He is Lifted Up

He lifted up the cross to go to the place,
Where His sacrifice could lift us to receive His grace.
Every sin and shame was pile upon His back,
So the death-penalty of your sin you need not pack.
He that is Light went into the dark, blight of sin,
So all in darkness could allow the light of truth to enter in;
He who was the Way became sin and lost,
So we would find the way to life and holiness by way of the cross.
He who was crucified, lifted up His life again.
For He who is Life could draw you to Him.
He is not dead, He is alive and well,
And you who are or were dead are able to a new story to tell.
You are when His, a living, breathing part,
Of the Father, Son, and Spirit very loving heart.
You who were dead is alive too.
Jesus, the Risen Lord now dwells in you.
Celebrate the glorious day when all men are able to see;
If they lift their heart, mind, and soul, they are able to believe and recieve..

Mark 16:6
And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

How Far Could He See? By Brenda Drake

            Oh how my mind struggles to grasp a love that chose to become sin to free us from sin. This love left heaven’s glory to pay a debt we could not pay.  When we begin to comprehend the greatest love story of all times, in awe we in wonder just how far He could see?

How Far Could He See?

He was sorely beaten, upon His head a crown of thorns roughly placed;
Great nails pierced His flesh and the beard torn from His face.
Placed on a rugged cross with a sign clearly to be seen,
By a sea of faces: crying, mocking, evil, and mean.
Lifted up with two thieves…one on each side,
As a mass of people waited for them to die.
From the cross; upon His back every sin of every man was known;
The perfect Son of God called each sin His own.
How far could He see, is the question asked.
He saw right now right where you are at.
He saw far into the future and as far back as sin’s start.
He accepted the penalty of all sin so He could reign again in our heart.
Every sin, every shame, and all inability;
He saw and paid for at Calvary.
Great is the day when our opened eyes can fully know,
He rose alive on the third day so His life through us will overflow.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 6:20
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

The Long Walk Back By Brenda Drake

The Long Walk Back

With hearts sad and full of despair,
They walked away from Jerusalem; for the Lord was no longer there.
With hurting, heavy, hearts of Him they spoke.
They shared with the listening stranger their hearts were broke.
As He broke the bread, they could then see,
The nail scared hands, of the One, that was the Bread indeed.
The One that fed multitudes, was alive and well,
They willingly took the long walk back to the others tell.
With hearts filled with wonder, and eyes wide with joy and surprise,
The One they loved was not dead, Jesus is alive!

……The world has a deep hurt…. for many hope has fled.
Their past is a burden heavy and they are afraid to look ahead.
They walk away from hope and dreams; conditioned to accept defeat and loss.
Then, along comes the answer that died for them on the cross.
He picks them up and places them on the solid ground of faith.
He gives them a word to share with those that wait.
They turn about and walk back to those left behind,
And share the good news as the Father designed.
The long walk back has promise in each step;
God is alive and well and He is not finished with you yet!

Luke 24:33-35
And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

Life is Stronger By Brenda Drake

There was one thing I never wanted to talk about; Death: I was petrified of it.  I still am nor fond of it, and surely wish there was no such thing, but I am not now traumatized thinking of it anymore for my Lord promises never to leave me or forsake me.  He will be with me when I walk through that door. What a wonderful work Jesus did for us on the cross.  He not only paid our debt of sin but He showed us just how He would help us conquer death by the example of His victory on resurrection day.

Life is Stronger

Life is stronger than death when you belong to Christ.
Life lives on when in God you delight.
Eternal life with Jesus is as walking through the opened door.
Death’s fear has no threat anymore.
Jesus is Life and The Way,
He is Savior in every way.
He chose to take your place,
So you could His eternal life embrace.
The power of resurrection loosed death’s hold and the soul released.
Because of Jesus’ sacrifice there lies ahead perfect peace.
The power of Jesus over the grave,
Is life-giving truth you are from its hold saved.
Jesus died and rose again to rescue the lost.
All who believe and come by way of the cross,
Have the same hope in their final quest,
Because of Jesus they rest in His promises.
Those not acquainted with the truth that sets them free,
Are not able to His resurrection-power receive.
They will die only to live without God in their life;
A hellish existence forever without Christ.
God so loved the world He sent His Son Jesus to die in our place.
Whosoever will believe will receive His amazing grace.
They too will be of God’s family a part.
Never to be separated again from the Father’s heart.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57
Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?
Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Hidden Truth Revealed By Brenda Drake

            The donkey has a natural cross on its back. It carried Jesus who would carry the cross to die for our sins. So many hidden truths are revealed. Now we carry Jesus inside, to light the way to show others the way to salvation by His work of the cross.

Hidden Truths Revealed

When the donkey carried Jesus the cheering crowd believed He was to be crowned King.
They threw down their cloaks as children would dance and sing.
The donkey the Master rode sported a cross on his back.
Jesus willingly placed Himself there; there was no turning back.
The people thought He was entering to cause profit for a better life.
They missed the timing; the truth was hidden from their sight.
Shortly after, Jesus carried the cross; beaten ragged and sore.
Many of the same crowd now cried “Crucify” to the Lord.
He was traveling to Golgotha to truly set them free.
Again the truth the real profit they did not see.
Upon the cross He was pinned to die,
Between two thieves the Son of God was crucified.
The earth quaked, devils danced and the heavens wept,
Still the people were blind and lost in confusion’s midst.
But into deaths door light enter in.
Jesus paid the price for new life to begin.
Death could not hold Him; He is light, and the way.
He is alive!  He is the light that shines truth for those who believe to this day.

Romans 6:6-7
 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed,
that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin

John 8:32
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Diamonds in the Rough By Brenda Drake

            It is easy to observe our fellowman and comment on their rough behavior and appearance. As we practice the ways of God we will begin to envision a diamond-in-the-rough; just like God saw us!

Diamonds in the Rough

Diamonds in the rough, what a sight to see;
Not how they look now but what they can be.
On the outside the world sees their dull crusty side,
But the One that sees all beholds His bride.
The world tramples them unaware;
Of their great worth and do not acknowledge they are there.
The Holy Spirt hovers over them day and night.
They are plainly and clearly seen in God’s sight.
He woos them to the truth to His work begin,
He makes them new and draws to Him and moves within.
From the earths mire set free, made new chosen to become,
God’s own jewel; touched by the Son.
Look about see in each man your meet,
He is perhaps a diamond in the rough others pass on the street.
Because you are a precious jewel for God’s Son prepared,
Go out and the beauty of His holiness with others share.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works,
which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Flowers on a Page By Brenda Drake

We spend time and money to look our best, but sometimes we need to spend some extra time working on our inward portrayal.  Our real beauty is Christ in us; His light we are asked to shine and His good news we are commissioned to share.

Flowers on a Page

Flowers on the page of a book may be pretty it is true,
But they are unable to be picked and given by you.
They smell like musty old paper or like ink;
With not a hint of the aroma of flowers red or pink.
An artist can capture a flowers beauty to pleasure the eye;
They can look very real and alive.
But they are just an image of the real thing,
A small amount of pleasure it can bring.
Some individuals are recognized as good.
Pleasing to look at but inner life is misunderstood.
Shallow, like flower on a page are flat and lifeless too,
They are unable to be picked or by God used.
The redeemed-life is new, alive, and whole;
With fresh aroma that proves a forgiven soul.
A fresh breath of air in a harsh dry land;
Picked and chosen and sent by the Creator’s hand.
A beautiful example of the One that died in their place;
They are at the foot of the Father because of His mercy and grace.
They are real, true believers in Jesus, God’s Son;
Fully dedicated to get God’s Work done.

Matthew 5:20
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees,
ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven

Heart Touching Moments By Brenda Drake

colorful butterfly is laying on a woman’s hand

There are some precious heart-touching moments in life; such as our wedding vows and our child’s birth. But the most heart touching moment will never be topped.  The day we are born again, and are betrothed to the Savior of our soul.

The Heart Touching Moments

Heart touching moments causes change.
Wrong thoughts are diverted and actions rearrange.
But for this to happen our heart and ears,
Need to be opened to hear.
For ears to open there needs to be,
Willingness to the wisdom of truth receive.
Example: Have you tried to communicate with someone,
But they remain unmoved when you were done?
Their position was as in cement poured,
They remained untouched, the same as before.
You will receive no satisfaction from them,
Their ears are closed tight no other word is allowed in.
Remember the day you were confronted with the truth of sin?
Because you heard and believed; more truth entered in.
You beheld the love of the Father and the sacrifice of His Son,
And believed and received the good work that was done.
It is a heart-touching moment like no other,
New hope, new life, and new joy discovered.
There is a change in direction, thoughts, and deeds.
When ears are opened and the heart receives all that it needs.

Psalms 35:9
And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord:
it shall rejoice in his salvation.

Turned Away or Invited to Stay By Brenda Drake

            I quake with fear when I remember the times I turned off the television when preaching started. I am very thankful the Holy Spirit never stopped wooing me to the cross of repentance.  It was and is the best decision I ever made when I asked Jesus to stay.

Turned Away or Asked to Stay

When the two men were freed and the village learned what was done,
How the demons were expelled and drowned in the pigs, every last one,
I thought there would be a great reception to invite Jesus to stay.
But what a surprise to me when I discovered they sent Him away.
Why would they demand life to depart?
And to refuse the truth to enter their heart?
It makes no sense to me,
It is as the blind that refuses to see.
Go away they said to the Son of Man;
Surely they did not the request fully understand.
But there are many that even today do the same,
They misunderstand who Jesus is and why He came.
When they are confronted by the truth of His power and might;
When they are confronted by the Light,
They too demand Him to depart from their midst.
Some angrily even shake at Him their fist.
It is sad to think of the rejection Jesus endures each day;
It is fortunate He does not always listen and returns in hope
He is invited to stay.

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Matthew 8:34
And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
