Only You Can Glorify Him By Brenda Drake

My life-purpose began the day I stepped out in faith to speak to God’s children His messages of love and hope.  What a loving God we serve.  He chooses to use us to help others as He continues to help us.  It is my joy to serve Him by sharing His love with others.  He loves everyone and desires for all to glorify Him; no one else can fill your shoes.

Only You Can Glorify Him

Glorify the heavenly Father by your life
No one else is able to take your place to glorify Christ.
You are uniquily, wonderfully made – no one else will do
You are the only one that can fit in the place prepared for you.
Every man has a place purposed in the heart of God’s plan.
No one needs to stay outside the camp.
Every person who ever lived is able to become,
With God and in God as one.
Inside man’s heart there is a void that needs to be filled;
That only finds satisfaction when doing as the Father wills.
To glorify Jesus you need not perform;
But to glorify Him you do need to be reborn.
Give your life to Him – He gave His life for thee.
Submit to His ways  as He planned to be.
To glorify Jesus – do all you can for right,
And rest assured; He is glorified by His work in your life.
This then is the fulfilled – the most pleasant task;
Living to please the Savior and doing as He asks,
And walking with faith believing He is in full control.
Because of this you are complete and whole.
Make time to glorify God on this day,
As you lift up your love in worship and in praise.

Psalms 86:12-13
I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

2 Corinthians 6:2
(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

No Waiting Lines By Brenda Drake

            I used to feel I needed to act and speak a certain way to get God’s attention. And even then if I gained access I may or may not receive an answer to my petitions.  I now know God loves me and He not only hears every prayer; His desire is to help me in all my needs.  In any place or position is the right time to pray, we have immediate access- no waiting lines.

No Waiting Lines

In the world you must take a ticket and wait in line;
You are not accepted until it’s your time.
No matter the problem you must wait your turn.
If you lose your patience and leave you will have to return;
Start over back to the back and no one even notices you were away.
You must take a ticket and you must in line stay.
Now it does cause order instead of confusion and strife;
t can be tiring… but necessary to do things right.
God does not need long lines nor do you have to wait;
You are accepted immediately into the gates.
Immediate access is guaranteed.
You can run, walk, or enter on your knees.
God is always willing to listen – know this is so.
He is always interested in your life and always in control.
f you fail and feel unworthy… repent and go right on in.
You do not have to work your way up to God again.
Most lose sight of this truth – they believe they must suffer awhile,
Before the God of Heaven, will again upon them smile.
But I tell you earnestly this is not true.
Your God loves you so much – He runs out to meet you.
He says, “Come in prayer and we will commune you and I”
“And I’ll fill you up with my peace and joy.”
“I will take away fear and give you hope and the confidence to testify,”
“To another that they also know they do not need to stand in line!”

Jeremiah 29:12-13
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Psalms 66:17-20
I cried unto him with my mouth,
and he was extolled with my tongue.
 If I regard iniquity in my heart,
the Lord will not hear me:
 But verily God hath heard me;
he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer,
nor his mercy from me.

Be Still By Brenda Drake

     When overcome with the troubles and trials of this world there is a place where we can find the sweet atmosphere we need to face our world with God’s strength within.

Be Still

When you desire to be carried to the sweet place of peace;
Where the inner hearing’s ability is increased,
When God’s thoughts enter the receptive attentive heart,
And every worldly care departs,
Nothing else matters – no one… not one thing;
For every fiber of your being is brought before the King.
Take a deep breath…let it out slow,
Allow His love to fill you – body, mind and soul.
Even the air smells sweeter in this place,
As you are wrapped in the comfort of His embrace.
Lovely songs of praise well up from within,
To give praise as you worship Him.
There’s value in this place – it overflows with power and might;
As the loving attitude in God delights.
Jesus will be revealed and His name is lifted high.
That you are His cannot be denied.
The sweet inner peace has you so filled,
Your countenance will show the value of “before God being still”

Psalms 63:5-6
My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:  When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Psalms 46:10-11
Be still, and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
 The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge

Divided We Stand by Brenda Drake

            This poem was written in 2011 ten years after 9/11 can you see how much more this great country has divided itself.  What should unite us has divided us:  One nation under God. We are free to decide on whether or not to obey God’s Word or to do things our own way. In our decision there are rewards and consequences.  Our country is walking on a very thin line.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Divided We Stand

Divided we stand …no longer United as before;
One shuts up tight and one tries to open up the door.
One Nation under a God it no longer trusts,
When will the American people say enough is enough?
One is for tax cuts,
One side says taxes must be raised up;
Two different opinions that ring loud in the ear,
But neither side plainly speaks, so the message remains unclear.
Churches in the same villages will not agree;
They are divided….but are in the same body.
Divided we stand…one for and one against:
Still more divided – some attempt to walk the fence.
Households are in a struggle in the trying times,
If divisions are allowed the enemy will it also undermine
How can light dwell with darkness?
How is there progress in the land?
Either you join together in agreement and do as God commands,
Or there will be a great falling away;
United no more….Divided to stay!

1Timothy 2:1-5
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;  Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Christ’s Love By Brenda Drake

I have been hurt many times by unkindness.  Before Jesus I handled it by telling off the person, or by erasing them from my life.  Neither is the acceptable solution after salvation.  I have had to learn how Jesus would handle things.  Sometimes it is almost more than I can handle, and I truly need His strength to not react in a wrong way.  And then there are the times I do not want to die to self! I know that I need to pray in the difficult times to allow Jesus to rule from within.  Only then I will be practicing Christ’s love

Christ’s Love

Love handles a situation explosive with care;
It will not bottle it up but will in love the problem share.
Love hates division – it truly hates strife.
Love will offer up itself to enrich another’s life.
The world has many opportunities to be used for test;
When the heart can choose to strike or it can practice forgiveness.
I do not say it is easy – it is impossible sometimes without Christ.
For although the spirit is willing the flesh puts up a fight.
To suffer wrong willingly is not the way it normally is done on earth;
It is not a desirable project – it is hard work.
To forgive the one that strikes and causes disrespect to you,
Is not the thing that you willingly will do.
But Jesus suffered much more than this in your behalf.
He will give you the strength you need to keep on track.
Love is very anxious to serve God by serving another.
Love will be constant in praise toward your brother.
Love is able to stand and say with a heart that is true:
“I will if need be die for you.”
To die to self-will is what is needed to walk God’s way;
To die to self’s reactions in what you do or say.
You will find that the strength to do right is as close as a prayer my friend.
You can do all things through Christ who strengthens – on Him depend.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

To Walk and Talk with God By Brenda Drake

        Since the day of Salvation I am discovering how to express my love, concerns and needs with the Lord.  Each day I learning more and more how to listen to the voice of God who also desires to communicate His love and plans for me.

To Walk and Talk With God

To walk and talk with God to most seems an impossiblity
For how can this happen if God you cannot see?
How can we listen to someone that does not make a sound?
And then show another the truth that we have found?
It is not impossible though it is only possible by faith.
Its reality becomes so sure, its confession you will not hesitate.
To walk with God is to always be aware that He is near.
And to talk with God is to know every word He hears.
To listen is to be still and allow flesh to die,
So you can hear the God that within you abides.
Trust and faith causes worry to the enemies around,
For they know you’re walking on solid ground.
Your guide ( the Holy Spirit)  instructs and teaches God’s Word;
And your heart grasps the truth and practices what you’ve heard.
Mankind becomes what God has always planned for him to be;
Not a separate being but a part of Him through eternity.
One heart, and one mind, one through and through;
One day, it will be more odd and strange to not with God move.
Draw close and listen and you will move in one accord
You will be one of the ones that walks and talks with the Lord!

John 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

John 14:16-17
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Daddy I am Hurting By Brenda Drake

 Probably my lack of a father’s love made it a lot harder to understand the great love of my Heavenly Father.  I would find myself afraid every time I failed of His judgment falling; like the hard rod I experienced as a child. But God was always so kind and gentle in His correction.  I so loved Him and wanted to please Him with all my heart – but the old sinful nature was at war with my new walk.   I needed to learn how to truly repent!   The Father was and still is, so patient and loving with me.   I have learned that this is the love of my “Abba Father”… my daddy God.

Daddy I am Hurting

Like a little child I come and pray;
Abba Father, I am hurting, please take my pain away.
I know I’ve been foolish and not the way I should
But Daddy, help me to be good.
May I crawl on Your lap and rest awhile,
So I can feel the sunshine of Your smile?
May I snuggle closer into Your sweet care,
For Your comfort and to Your encouragement share?
I need to hide awhile in safe shelter from the mighty winds that blow;
For sometimes I am uncovered, in a world that is harsh and cold.
I need to draw upon Your strength and to be reassured,
That our love is unbroken and in You I’m secure.
Chase away all the doubts and fears so they will not stay.
Thank You for being with me each and every day.
Wrap Your arms around me Lord so my confidence will increase;
As You administer to my aching soul new abiding peace.
Thank You my Lord for dwelling my heart within,
So we can always meet like this in prayer to make me strong again.

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Listen to the Spirit By Brenda Drake

            God loves us so much He sent His Son Jesus to pay our sin debt.  Jesus loves us so much He died on a rugged cross in our place. Because He is God, when He rose from the dead we will also.  When Jesus finished His work on earth He sent the Holy Spirit to teach, lead and guide to the truth in God’s Word.  The Holy Spirit is our inner witness that comforts and assures us we are saved and are member of God’s family. He is our inner witness we will one day forever dwell with Him.

Listen to the Spirit

Listen to the quiet deep inside.
Let God be your guide.
Be sensitive to the deep- moving within.
Recognize the nudge the Spirit sends:
The gentle pressure that impresses your mind;
That instructs and teaches as God designs.
Read the Word let it show you right from wrong,
So you have clear knowledge of what belongs.
See the sin and walk from it away.
In Jesus’ name cast it out so it will not stay.
Allow the love of Jesus to soften up the heart anew,
So His joy and peace will flow inside of you.
Evil thoughts become subject to God. You are able to reject sin,
When you decide to allow Jesus to inspect what is within.
To walk in the Spirit is to allow Jesus to rule and reign.
You will know what God desires – to cast away or to remain.
To walk in the Spirit means you will be guided by God above.
And you too will become an example of His love.
When you are led by the Spirit His victory you will confess;
Even in hard times of temptation you will in His abundant wisdom rest

Luke 11:28
But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

John 8:47
He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Holy Comforter By Brenda Drake

       There are times when only the Holy Spirit is able to successfully show us the comfort we need at just the right time. Only God can know exactly how we are feeling and only He can touch us in our most needy situations.  He indeed is the Comforter of our soul.

Holy Comforter

There is One near that you cannot see
He is the One that dries the tears for thee.
He walks where angels cannot tread.
He hears every word ever said.
He is always kind and gentle to the aching heart.
He is the One that kindles loves fires to start.
He builds up and makes strong the damaged and weak.
He gives comfort to the soul that seeks.
This One comes at the whispered prayer;
And He truly for you cares.
His healing touch raises the dead.
He nourishes the starving, and strengthens the underfed.
The Comforter is sent as a gift from above,
To prove and to show the Heavenly Father’s love.
He speaks of salvation and lifts up Jesus’ name.
When the Holy Spirit enters, a life is never again the same.
Sweet words of wisdom will fill the mouth with praise;
Great is the thanks of a soul that has been saved.
For they are greatly assured of the work of the cross;
So abundant is the peace – no longer are they lost.
The Light of the universe lives within alive;
For the Comforter makes residence inside.
Reach out and give comfort to another lost soul.
God’s love from within you now overflows
The Comforter even now gives a word of rhyme to touch the ear,
With some more comforting words for you to hear.

Revelations 2:29
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

John 14:15-18
If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Tender Thoughts By Brenda Drake

       Tender thoughts flow through the heart; delivered from the sweet Spirit to lift and edify. When we allow Him He will allow us to share His comfort, joy and love to our fellow man; proving He dwells within.

Tender Thoughts

Tender thoughts flow through the heart sweet to taste;
The words formed are as a soothing embrace.
Gentle, flowering sacrifices are offered up in prayer,
Love has shown its face to the God that cares.
The sweet perfume of sacrifice fills the atmosphere,
In the holy anointing that proves your God is near.
A deep sigh of peace in God’s comfort rests,
With heart and mind satisfied; convinced to watch for God’s best.
The eyes search for any sign,
To know and to follow as God designs.
The face is lifted for heaven’s kiss,
As the coal is placed on unholy lips.
Praise and worship and wisdom will depart,
From those with a yielded and a still heart.
Tender words, kind and full of respect
Indeed should a great harvest expect.
Practice makes perfect – with God’s help within,
Vessels are made as pure and as sweet, as God already sees them.
Follow after the example of Jesus for He loved man so much,
He thought tender thoughts toward all as on the cross He touched.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
