Trust Is By Brenda Drake

I trust the Lord with all my heart, sometimes I do not understand why things happen, but I believe the Word of God. My God is trustworthy.  He is all I need according to His riches in glory. The wise will rest in His care.

Trust Is

Trust, a small word that encompasses much,
As we examine its magnitude just a tip of it we touch.
Trust does not strive to reach its goal.
It is more like a rest that flows.
Trust does not accuse and does not easily turn away.
Trust stands firm and it cannot be swayed
When God requests trust He desires us to believe;
Even in harsh times; no matter how desperate the need.
Trust is not based on perfect knowledge of all things.
It is grounded on the reliability of the Most-high, risen King.
Trust is unable to survive
In the same vessel worry or fear abides.
For worry is the opposite emotion- it testifies distrust.
To truly glorify God, to renounce anxiety is a must.
Trust will expect the best, marching forward without pause.
Trust will rejoice in truth and integrity of God’s laws.
To trust your God and His ability and might
Is the greatest wisdom your soul can delight.

Psalms 9:10
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee:
for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

The Word Reprimand By Brenda Drake

I remember my mom when she would say as I was corrected for disobeying her, “This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you, but it is for your own good.”  I didn’t believe her just as my children didn’t believe me when I said the same thing to them. This poem expresses the Father’s heart concerning reprimand and correction.

The Word Reprimand

Reprimand corrects and warns, to turn away from wrong.
If it is done in love it will not hurt as long.
To be reprimanded by God is much the same.
I warn to turn away from the path of shame.
When reprimanded you need to be aware,
It is because you have a God that cares.
When corrected, you will need to understand,
That it is administered by God’s loving hand.
When you have been asked not to do certain things,
If you disobey, you know it deep within your being.
I ask always in love, I correct the same.
Punishment may seem harsh but God’s love is proclaimed.
For the consequences would be even more disastrous for thee,
If you are not stopped you could be destroyed by the enemy.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

 Revelations 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Psalms 89:32-33
Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.

There was a Small Child By Brenda Drake

Small excerpt from Waves of Comfort by Brenda Drake

I remember as a young child standing in my room at my grandmother’s house, looking up to the heavens and saying, “God if you are really there why don’t you talk to me?”  I listened but I did not hear a thing.
Many years later, after I had asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior and had invited Him into my heart, I heard God speak!  I was sound asleep and I heard “God is Love; Jesus is forgiveness.”  I woke up immediately.  I was so excited – I knew it was God!  I then woke my husband and repeated the wonderful message God spoke to me (my husband surely thought I had gone crazy).  I wrote it down in a little book.  I was so thrilled… not only could I talk to God but God would speak to me!
Much later after the Holy Spirit taught me to listen I received this poem.  It reminded me that when I was a child, I called out that I wanted to hear His voice.  God had heard me!  I just could not hear Him.

There was a small girl child with eyes open wide to see.
She called out to the heavens to a word from God receive.
She challenged me to listen and to speak to her clear,
However she did not have a heart able to hear.
Many years went by and I called out to her many times.
One fine day her heart with truth aligned,
It still took her a while to rest enough to hear my voice.
Now the little child can daily draw near so her heart can rejoice.

John 10’27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Waves of Comfort By Brenda Drake

Waves of Comfort

When your heart is hurting come,
Enjoy the holy presence of God’s Son.
The loving touch of the Holy Comforter
Will heal and fix your inner hurts.
When heavily walked upon and joy has fled,
Come allow the Comforter to show you how to forgive.
When confused and you do not know the way to go,
Allow the Word to guide you – so you can in the Spirit flow.
I fill hearts with gladness and mind with truth and power;
And with love in the world’s most troubling hour.
Waves of comfort flow to you and through you to lift and to edify.
Surges of God’s goodness are your eternal supply.
Beauty for the ashes, mourning is by joy replaced,
All are provided by God’s provision of grace.
Waves of God’s mercy flood the land,
Overflowing those who seek to understand.
Great, abundant, heavy showers of love,
Come from the Lord above
Whatever you need and desire that is well and fine,
Will be provided in God’s time.
Come allow the Holy Spirit to touch,
You in your deepest place, with His waves of love.

2 Thessalonians 2:15-17
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

The Measure that is True By Brenda Drake

We have a tendency to look at how far we need to go to be like Jesus.  The evil one is sure to point out everything that does not measure up.  Our worth needs to be seen by the light of the Word of God.  When we allow God’s truth inside, it indeed will set us free.
The truth is God loved us before we loved Him.  Jesus died to set us free from the bondage of sin.  The truth is…. Grace saves us, not our own goodness.  We are saved by Jesus’s work on the cross, not by our own works of the flesh. When we compare ourselves with others, we may come away feeling condemned and greatly lacking.  When we measure ourselves by the sacrifice on our behalf, we will know that God loves every person with the same passion.  We do not need to feel inferior or jealous of another again.

The Measure That Is True

Measure yourself not by others, but from where you have come.
Do not look at another to see how well you have done.
For always, you will see the example that makes you feel small.
The most important thing is God loves all.
You are just as large in His sight as the one you so admire.
You are dressed in the very same attire.
The same robe of righteousness was placed upon each back.
When you have accepted Jesus, you have no lack.
Measure what you are by the only measure that is true.
The measure of your worth is the work of the One that died for you.
In the Father’s eyes, He sees you tall and pure.
There is no need to fear when you are in God secured.
See how far you have come – the great changes that have taken place.
The old man is no more; you are born anew under grace.
Love one another and appreciate how far they have come too.
Be glad and rejoice for you both in the same Spirit move.

Ephesians 4:4-7
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

There is no sweeter place than in the presence of our loving God.

My Life is Kissed by the Son

Even on a rainy day when all looks glum,
I will relax and bask in the Son.
In the sweet heavenly place,
My heart reaches up for His embrace.
I may be tired inside and outside too,
But my whole being has a hunger to in His realm move.
As I take a deep breath of His abiding peace,
I feel my energy increased.
Every worry is abandoned and left behind,
As His love and promise fills my mind.
The clouds lift and the flowers bloom again.
Filling my heart with the sweet aroma of Him.
Beside still waters rests my soul,
At rest … content in His sure hold.
New wisdom is poured into this vessel of clay;
Prepared to face yet another day.
Ready and willing to…

The Protector By Brenda Drake

Before I was allowed to marry I needed to take catechism classes.  I desired to find God.  I gained knowledge of all the necessary prayers and was faithful to confess my sins, but I did not yet know God.
After about five years of marriage my hurting heart was ready to call it quits.  My husband was just as needy as I was.  It was at this time I became fully aware of evil; the tormenters began an onslaught within my heart and my mind.
I had a battle to fight, and all I knew was there was a God; and I called upon His protection as I recited my formal prayers.  God is so good.  He saw me, He heard me, and He protected me from the evil ones as He continued to woo me and draw me to Him.

The Protector

Once upon a time not so long ago,
There was one with a yearning in the soul.
Life was a nightmare that never seemed to stop.
Every attempt to please seemed to be a flop.
The tender heart was broken; it seemed everyone turned away,
No matter how much she tried to obey.
The fear of rejection became uppermost in the mind,
So she hardened her heart and discontinued trying.
Even in this sad state when rebellion entered in,
And when her life was toying with sin,
The heart cried out in protest as eyes searched to see
What she yearned for deep within her being.
Over and over the nightmare returned.
She could not receive – love was spurned.
God sees and hears every sigh
He is aware from on high.
He hovered over and planted the seed of hope,
And gave her the ability to cope.
He wooed and called out of death’s wrap.
He saved the soul that was entrapped.
He picked her up and chased away the tormentors – not a few,
And He carried her, His kingdom into.
He asked her to be His bride,
And then He moved inside.
She is happily waiting the day
When He will arrive and take her away.

Broken Heart Come Back by Brenda Drake

There have been many opportunities for celebration when I heeded the sweet council within me.  There are the terrible times of failure when I did not listen to the Word of God but followed the leading of the flesh.  At these heartbreaking times, the correction of God is not only expected but almost desired.  It was at one of these times when the Lord in His goodness called me to come back.

Broken Heart Come Back

Your heart is breaking; it is very heavy in your chest.
You walked the way you should not; you followed the leading of the flesh.
The road though very colorful, is not the way that is right to go.
It seems to promise good things but as you know,
The way of disobedience is not by God blessed.
There is only one way out of your troubles — repent, and sins confess
Admit you are a sinner and that you have been led astray.
Set your mind on Jesus, and prepare to his Word obey.
Oh the sweetness of grace – taste it once again.
Take it and make it the place to again begin.
Crucify the flesh; from the devil flee.
Put your trust in Jesus, and His strength will set you free.
Only after true repentance are you allowed under God’s cover,
Completely forgiven and restored and with your God a love

1 John 1:8-10
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

When  look ahead through eyes of faith, expecting the best even  in times of difficulty,  I  believe there are brighter days ahead.     Life is a gift.  When  we trust God our life is  filled with precious jewels to enrich our life.

Jewels of Time

I look for diamonds in the sands of time.
Jewels of revelation in my heart and mind.
I hunger for the wisdom prepared for me
I ask for God’s help and ability
I serve a supernatural God with no limits to His power.
I will be His hand extended in the world’s last hour.
In God’s Word many things as yet are undetected;
I will in this life expect the unexpected.
All of life’s journeys are mapped out by Him.
The most high, most Holy, my God and friend.
As I walk by faith I see streets of gold shining…

Tightly Entwined By Brenda Drake

The enemy is constantly at work to convince us that we are not good enough, or that someone else is not up to par.  I am excited to learn more each day that though the enemy may try to rip us apart, we do not need to allow it to happen.  When we are one with the Creator, one with each other, and one in the Spirit, we are entwined with love.  I am sure we do not fully understand the beautiful truth of His full salvation.  We need to remember that our God is forming His masterpiece from the inside out, weaving His love in and through all of His creation!

Tightly Entwined

To take a basket apart is hard to do
For it is woven tightly and will hardly move.
It so retains its shape.
That to pry it apart, it will break.
Now this is silly, why would you try?
What good would the reed be so brittle and dry?
It would no longer be of use anymore.
Never again could it be as it was before.
This story is to show you another truth to see–
This is how hard it is to be separated from Me.
We are even more entwined than this
For we are fused together, a perfect fit.
The chosen vessels are woven together too,
So in unity they will move.
The destroyer causes divisions in the body of Christ
By doctrines of differences and unneeded strife.
Never is he able to end God’s work on earth.
Never is he able to destroy or dismantle the Church.
When you are feeling frazzled and falling apart,
Remember, you are entwined with the Father’s heart.
No one can separate you from His loving care,
And that He is of all things fully aware.
The Holy Spirit is busily mending each break
For God’s will is taking shape.
Soon the beautiful work is done,
The masterpiece prepared for God’s Son.
A beautiful bride that is so intimately entwined with His love.
A work that is very pleasing, it glorifies the Father above.

John 17:21
That they all may be one; as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
