Love Makes All the Difference By Brenda Drake

Love Makes All the Difference

Love adorns and beautifies; it covers a multitude of sins.
It is a balm of healing power, renewing what was ruined from within
Love is the power of God’s Son shown in the life He gave
So who-so-ever believeth on Him will be saved.
Love takes the shabby, and the stained, and makes spotless and new.
Love takes the foul and spoiled and formulates sweet perfume.
Love exchanges the stench of death into blessed eternal life.
Love turns away from disharmony and all unwanted strife.
It sooths broken hearts and uplifts those that despair.
Love cries along with those that hurt and will burdens share.
Love makes the path to the future brighter and makes the past dim.
Love leads to the Savior, and will not turn back again.
Love bows before the Lord, the power of hate is gone;
For when love rule and reigns; it is good and strong.
Love’s force is so powerful; no man’s definition can fully explain.
To define it completely would be to describe God and all His wonders proclaim.
God is love.  He is what all men need inside.
Come all who are heavy laden, come and let Love abide.

Ephesians 3:16-19
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height ;And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

What Heart Can Stand? By Brenda Drake

  What Heart Can Stand?

What heart can stand against the Word tall?
There is not one, all will before the Word fall.
What man is able to the Word resist?
There are many that shake at God their fist.
But they will not forever so proudly stand.
They are foolish to resist God’s helping hand.
Hearts will cry at their foolishness, for all eternity;
All because they refused to believe.
Who is able to stand before God’s Son?
And give thanks and praise for all He’s done?
Those that now willingly bows their knee.
And chooses to live their life to God please.
Who will come and boldly make requests?
Who is it that believes and plans for God’s best?
Those that gladly turn from sin away,
And thankfully turn to the God that died to their lives save.
What do the redeemed need yet to do?
Just love God and allow Him to inside rule.
Love God with all your heart, mind and soul,
Allow Him in your life full control.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Do good unto others and reach out to help.
Trust the love of the Father that sent to earth His Son;
Trust His work is good and good comes.
Die to self-will as in Him you live,
The Spirit will be strong in you when your life is His.

Romans 14:11
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

The Biscuit Maker By Brenda Drake

biscuit maker Another sneak peak into my new daily devotional book Anointed With Fire to be released hopefully later this year.

 Isaiah 49:16
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls
are continually before me.

            I received this poem several years ago.  I love it, and often wonder who this biscuit maker is.  I look forward to meeting her one day in heaven.  I also love the moral of telling her story.  You may feel unimportant but in God’s eyes you are very important to Him.

The Biscuit Maker

  • There is one that works in a factory at a job dull and mundane.
    She is not paid well but the King knows her name.
    She presses buttons and watches weights and measures,
    But to her Maker she causes much pleasure.
    The noise is deafening in the place she toils.
    She needs to protect her ears so her hearing is not spoiled.
    Year by year she has been faithful doing her job right.
    She wears covering for her plain clothing that is out of sight.
    In this position she continues doing what she does best,
    Making biscuits that are by her pressed.
    This biscuit maker really does not see
    The very important work that she does for me.
    She meets with her God daily, as she lays her burdens down,
    And she brings every burden of others that she has found.
    Her songs are not heard by the one standing close by,
    But they are clearly heard by God on high.
    Her hours of sweet thoughts are well received,
    They’re planted in good soil, so others will profit in their needs.
    Her name you do not know but her name is written on my hand.
    The little biscuit maker is firmly in my plan.
    What is it this story that is revealed in rhyme?
    You are never overlooked when you are mine.
    The very lowest job description may become,
    The most holy meeting place when the day is done.
    Every time you see someone doing their daily task it could be,
    They are doing a major job for me.
    And every time you find
    Yourself doing something that seems a waste of time,
    Remember this story of the biscuit maker; and how much God cares,
    That He gave you a poem that her story shares.

Prayer
Lord you are so good, I marvel at Your love.  Help me to appreciate others and to never feel my efforts to serve are unimportant or of little value.

Fishers of Men By Brenda Drake

Fishers of Men

Fishing can be a lot of fun;
Relaxing for the old and exciting for the young.
There is a little preparation…. the most important thing,
Bait must be plentiful more than anything.
The fishing that your Lord desires for you to do;
Is to bring others to the water that holds promise for you.
Hearts that hunger for souls do well;
They draw men  by  their life stories they tell.
The world has need deep within
They hunger for peace, joy and to be freed from sin
Come let us go fishing; allow your day to be,
Conscious of the souls that are hungry.
Throw out the line (the life-line) to them.
It is done by living what you believe and by being a friend.
Be ready always to tell of the good news of Christ,
Willing  always to self sacrifice,
Perhaps this is the day for a big catch;
I’ll will go with you for I know right where they’re at.

Matt 4:19
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Man’s Decision by Brenda Drake

 Man’s Decision

In the Garden… Eve was deceived.
The evil one planted his evil seeds.
When she believed the lie,
She drew Adam to her side.
When he ate from the forbidden tree
He was aware of sin and from it he could not be freed.
But the Father always knew and had a plan to take away sin.
The Holy Spirit now calls all men to Him.
Jesus provided the way on the cross of shame,
And has provided the use of His name.
His stripes have healed sickness and disease;
And. all He asks is for you to believe.
He will give strength when you are weak.
And He gives wisdom for you to speak.
He pours out blessings too numerous to mention.
He will administer His sweet peace to relieve your tension,
His Word is sent to lead and guide the seeking heart.
The Father gives man, His Son’s authority, to tell the enemy to depart.
Every man or woman will hear and will see truth displayed;
They will decide to believe or refuse to be saved.
Man will do one of two things:
They will remain lost or they will become an offering.
Each and every one will choose to die to self,
Or they choose to remain lost without the Spirit’s help.
Man’s decision with God’s provision will be very evident,
He chooses to be a light or to remain in darkness – It is up to Him.

Deut 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

When Persistence Pays By Brenda Drake

persistencedownload (3)

      I know many of you as yet have not gotten a copy of my book  “Waves of Comfort” but just to let you know this is a poem that will be in my new book Anointed with Fire, a daily devotional hopefully published this next year.

Job 11:14-15 If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles. For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

             Sometimes I have a very stubborn nature.  As a Christian it is changed to persistence. I am forever grateful my Lord persistently encourages and guides my normally stubborn nature to align with His will for my life.

When Persistence Pays

Persistence pays, it will endure.
A persistent, good attitude finds the cure.
But when wrong, negative thoughts return within,
You need God’s Word to persistently put them away again.
Never tire of pushing bad thoughts away,
For, they too will persist day after day.
Read and study the Word of truth.
It will keep them from overcoming you.
The moment you utter a repenting prayer God forgives
You do not need to remain in sin or continue to in guilt live.
Everyone’s evil nature tries to pull down to reclaim,
But with faith intact, on your feet you remain.
Every time you persistently turn away from sin,
You are glorifying your God again.
Never tire in your efforts for the rewards are great.
You will surely see your persistence pays.

John 8:31
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Prayer
I set my face to do Your will, to obey Your Word. With Your help I will not turn back.

Everyone Has a Job to Do By Brenda Drake

We are all workers together in God’s kingdom, man, woman, and child; of every denomination, every race, and every station in life. The work opportunities are not all taken up.  There is an appointed task for you.  God has a wonderful plan for your life.

Everyone Has a Job to Do

Everyone has a job to do, after accepting God’s Son.
There are many people to tell, and so much to be done
You do not need to look off afar.
There is something you can do; right where you are.
Listen to the Spirit that dwells within;
And your ministry begins.
If your life is confined and you cannot get away,
You have ample opportunity to take time to pray
You can reach across the miles; there is no limit to their touch.
There is no reason to remain dry and useless; you can do so much.
Perhaps you feel you are not witty, or you are hard to get to know,
If you allow God’s Word to drop like nuggets of gold,
You can be a teacher, with wisdom to draw men unto me.
You will shine and do much more than you perceive.
Perhaps you feel you are not as comely as another one close by
But your beauty is evident to me. I see deep inside.
I see the lovely smile that draws people’s gaze.
If you choose to shine, of your contribution, you would be amazed.
Perhaps you still do not believe I could mean you,
That there just isn’t anything you can do.
Because you are mine you have the ability,
To resist the lie that the evil one whispers to thee.
Right now, if you choose to hear and choose to believe it,
You will cause to God’s Kingdom great benefit.

Rom 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

If You Could See Love

god is love

If You Could See Love

If love was visible we would see,
The softest, gentlest, feeling that could ever be.
Love’s colors are beautiful; full of kindness for others.
It is not forceful in any way, you will discover,
Love’s touch is sacrificial.  It is willing to serve.
Words full of hope and peace are preferred.
Love touches with as gentle a hand;
To lead and guide,to the truth, as it can.
As you learn who is Love what Love does in the Word.
You will desire to show another, the truth you have heard.
Love is clearly visible -In the face of Jesus God’s Son,
And He also can be seen in His chosen ones.

Eph 3:17-19
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Soon to Dance to the Tune of Victory By Brenda Drake

dancinga47cfc796caceb8808a22475806f6e68This is an update poem to share with you my health issues.  I am sure there are many people going through troubles and trials that feel like they will never end.  Are you not  glad we have the strength of the Lord to get us through it all?  I am.

Soon to Dance to the Tune of Victory

I am limping into tomorrow with faith again I will run.
Walking on the path of suffering is not what I call fun.
But I will still walk to the tune of salvation’s song,
Praising God and praying for it is He who makes us strong.
My Head has been filled with the truth that has set me free,
I by faith walk ahead to where I need to be.
I live in a body with ailments filled with pain,
But by faith my healing I claim in Jesus’ name.
I am confident in His help to see me through
With Him there nothing I am unable to do.
I limp into tomorrow with my eyes and head sore,
But I am still strong with the strength of my Lord,
My friends I know are praying and my Best friend hears their plea.
Soon I will be running and dancing to the tune of victory!

My Bible by Brenda Drake

My Bible

The wisdom in the Bible is to me
Like flowers that bloom in the desert for me to see.
Lit is like a beautiful tune to deaf ears;
Sweet music; a great pleasure to hear.
It is like sunshine after a storm; its healing touch warms my soul.
It’s like the purest silver or the most precious gold.
It’s like a river flowing forever deep inside.
I need never thirst again, for in its truth I abide.
It’s like a cloudless day, bright and clear.
Wisdom illuminated with love, to take away fears.
It’s like perfume I love to breathe
So perfect in its truth, that others  it’s aroma receive.
It’s like a beautiful rainbow that promises a treasure at its end.
Its pages full of glimpses of the glory that soon begins.
This wondrous book has withstood times test.
Why is it not by all hungrily devoured, consumed and read?
How is it, it is placed on a shelf without a page turned?
And its source of truth mocked and spurned?
How is it, the Word of God is so misunderstood?
And yet to me; it is so fine and good.
How is it I love it and cherish each page inside?
It is because I’ve opened it and allowed its love in me reside.

Jer 15:16
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
