A Long Way to the Cross
It took a while to get there…I didn’t know what I was looking for.
I have no doubt my heart was indeed searching for the Lord;
I went on the wide path where many walked before.
But I didn’t in this place find what I was searching for.
I tried the road of trying to do what was good’
I truly tried to do as I thought I should,
But the harder I tried I would find,
That I would again fail and fall behind.
Then, I followed after those that seemed to know the way.
I watched and listened carefully to what they had to say.
But one day, when I was not really trying, the Truth I saw clear.
That is when Jesus was presented…real truth appeared.
I saw the One that had trudged on the road ahead,
That carried a cross a long way, to pay a debt not His.
His love for my life was offered… He gave me His life.
For my transgressions He was sacrificed.
It was a long way to the cross, but I found the Way designed
All praise to Jesus who stayed on the cross to take away sins that were mine
1 Corinthians 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
