The PeaceMaker By Brenda Drake

Matthew 5:
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

            Do you sometimes feel like a big Band-Aid in a troubled, hurting world?  Or perhaps it is more like an umpire?  Maybe it is because you are hard at work being a peacemaker.  I say hard work, because it is.  We need to die to self, to help keep peace in our family, with our friends and even in our Church relationships.   Jesus is our example to follow; for He is after all the Prince of Peace.

The Peacemaker

Who are the peacemakers upon the earth?
What do they look like?  What are their works?
There are many that believe,
That you must compromise to promote peace.
But the peacemaker that glorifies Christ,
Will walk and talk Christ-like.
Jesus called sinners, sinners, and sin, sin.
But He offered His life, to bring new life and peace to them.
The peacemaker is the one that pardons foe and friend;
That will pray for the one that offends.
The peacemaker will not carry unprofitable words to another’s ear,
For their words, must cause anger’s fires to disappear.
Sometimes those that bestow peace remain undetected.
But like Jesus, as they die to self, they are by new life resurrected.
Who is the peacemaker?  The one that prefers another as best,
That will even when wronged choose to forgive.
Those that take extra time to learn to live God’s way,
Submits to God’s Word and elects to speak truth and words of praise.
The peacemaker may suffer ridicule, for some consider them weak.
But one day, it will be revealed, they stand in God’s strength.
He will draw His beautiful bride to His side to forever stand,
In the peaceful place, with the Prince of Peace; just as He always planned.

Prayer
Thank You Lord for the sweet peace poured in and through my life. Because of Your work in my behalf, I am able to rest in in the love and provisions of Your care even in troubled times.  Help me be a source of peace and harmony to those in need of Your loving touch.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words By Brenda Drake

     actionsimages (9)

          I have just recently found this poems message to be very true.  We can pray, cry, and think about situations and it is not felt by the one that needs a personal touch from us.  I am sorry to say I sometimes fall short on the action part.  Sending flowers, a card or a personal phone call along with the prayers, tears and thoughts are much better.

Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Louder than what you say is what you do.
To profess without works is untruth.
To say “I love you neighbor;” but walk away in their need,
Is to say “I want a harvest without planting a seed.”
To say you care for the lonely, the sad, and the afraid,
Without cheering them is like offering a cake unbaked.
To declare you will pray and then you forget;
Is like saying you will help wash without getting wet
If you say, “I will help you,” “ I will do this or that,”
But instead, you do not, what good is in the act?
Words kind and generous are never to be laid aside.
Words that uplift always remain alive.
Words that truly love will water what is sown.
Words need action, they cannot stand alone.
Take time to do the generous thing in mind.
Make sure you do what you in word have defined.
Take time to love in word and in actions as well;
A great work is accomplished that glory and honor will tell.
Jesus did what He said, and He said what He did.
You too must do the same, for you are the body and He is the head.
Words speak loud, but not as loud as the deed done.
This is truth spoken from the Spirit of Word, God’s Son.

James 3:13
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

Colossians 3:17
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Prayer
Forgive me Lord when my words are empty because of my actions.

On the Wings of Forever By Brenda Drake

Come-Holy-SpiritMy soul follows hard after you Lord.

On the Wings of Forever

On the wings of forever I will fly,
I yearn for you…my soul sighs.
I so desire to see Your face,
And to feel the wonder of Your embrace.
I remember the many times You’ve filled me up,
But, I still lift again my already filled cup.
Fill me up to overflow,
With Your goodness deep down in my soul.
I feel deep inside,
That in this world in me You are alive.
Nothing matters but Your sweet grace.
Everything about You I embrace.
Forever shines like diamonds in my eyes.
I am to be forever with Jesus; as His bride.
Love and joy fills my days,
With thanksgiving, worship and praise.

Ps 63:7-8
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.  My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

If a Flower Could Fly By Brenda Drake

flower_wings_by_dany666

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

              This poem was very special to me.  Before Jesus I was a self-centered kind of person.  I never was unkind or unhelpful but I still measured all my service through my desires, to my benefit if at all possible.  The Lord, in one of our special moments, called me “Flower”.  I love flowers so I thought it was a real nice nick-name.  Now I understand the deeper meaning of His desire for me; we are all His flowers, growing in the kingdom of God for His glory.

If a Flower Could Fly

If a flower could fly it would probably go,
Where is would be appreciated – close to the nose.
It would share its beauty with those in need,
And it wouldn’t be stingy with its seeds.
If there was someone sick they would be moved,
To help lift their spirits, so they would fly there too.
Their beauty would be easily recognized,
And would draw attention to lift up the eyes.
Now, this seems to be a silly story I tell you this day.
What hidden meaning is tucked away?
The one I call the flower is in service to the King,
Always willing, to offer itself as an offering.
They will share the sweet aroma of Christ,
To enrich another, with the truth that delights.
Yes, my flowers will indeed fly to assist.
Their prayers will not an opportunity miss.
Self-serving, does not occupy their time,
For they are fully committed; with the Spirit aligned.
If flowers could fly they would go to pure waters again and again;
To be refreshed, so their vibrant colors would remain.
So come often, to partake of the Living Water, and you will see,
That you are the flower I send that will fly for me.

Prayer
Father I so desire to cause pleasure to you, my prayer is to smell like Jesus.  Help me to be as the flower He sends to cheer another soul.

Faith Speaks By Brenda Drake

faith article_main_2

Luke 17:
And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

         Sometimes we do not know how much faith we have until it is needed.  I have been surprised many times how its presence is revealed in times of trial or trouble.  The Bible says faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.  Jesus, is the Word of God, He is the strength within me.

 Faith Speaks

Faith speaks to the mountain in the way,
And keeps walking forward in the day.
Faith holds on tight and will not of right things let go.
The world attempts to hinder and to slow,
But faith sets the face,
To all God’s promises embrace.
Faith not only speaks, it performs in deeds;
Faith reaches out and assists in another’s need.
Do you have faith, you may ask,
Are you walking onward, refusing to look back?
Do you listen to the Spirit within?
And do you steadfastly follow after Him?
When you find you have strayed what do you do?
Do you run and hide from the One that watches over you?
Or, do you immediately run,
Back into the waiting arms of God’s Son?
Faith watches, listens, and heeds God’s Word.
Faith reaches and teaches others, all the good news when heard.
Faith refuses to continue to worry for faith knows,
It is God who loves them, and He is in full control.
Do you have faith that is pleasing to God above?
Do you practice it faithfully, as you walk on in love?
What do you need to do more?
Place and allow every days progress in this hand of the Lord.
Every hope and dream, every trouble and trial,
By faith face with Him and you will feel His approving smile.

Prayer
You are my faith, all my faith rests in You.

Learning by Example By Brenda Drake

example77f3e7fb5dfedb27f537ca3447bad124--father-and-son-church-bulletins

We love to watch our babies grow up, we are pleased when we have made a positive inflluence on them and they have learned to do and  say the right thing.  I know our heavenly Father is also pleased when we listen to the Holy Spirit and begin to act, and speak like His Son Jesus.

Learning by Example

Babies learn to talk by listening to what others say.
God’s children learn much the same way.
The Holy Spirit helps them become,
Like the Word they listen too, like God’s Son.
When one abides and listens to the world’s temptation song.
They grow worldly as they follow along.
When babies learn to walk; they are up and then down.
Continuing onward when encouraged by others that are around.
So also God’s children learn to walk the same way;
They continue on when loved ones inspire them to obey.
So when you see the new born, traveling on God’s path
You too need love them where they are at.
Encourage them, by showering them with the bounty of your faith.
One day you will see one who talks and walks like God, showing another the way.

1Thesalonions 4:9
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

Isaiah 30:21
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

My Thoughts Toward You By Brenda Drake

thinkingdownload (3)

Great are His thoughts toward His beloved.  How can a heart not praise Him?

MY THOUGHTS TOWARD YOU MY LORD

My thoughts toward you is full of expectancy,
For I know You have good plans for me,
The hopes and dreams that are planted deep inside,
Are fanned with the loving thoughts You have supplied.
When I think of my relationship with God above,
I marvel at His great display of love.
How He has seen value and takes time with me,
Nurturing and guiding to maturity.
When my mind fills up with the truth, of His wonder displayed;
Fear and worry like a bird flies away.
My thoughts of Jesus, are like refreshing rain on parched ground,
The air is clear, and flowers within raise up all around.
When my thoughts are turned toward You, Lord, my heart agrees;
There is nothing in this world that means more to me.
You are the Author of all that is good and true.
I will practice each day, my Lord, to think good thoughts to glorify You.

Ps 94:19
In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

MY THOUGHTS OF YOU MY CHILD

My thoughts of you never sway.
They are steady, never do I look away.
You are so very precious …safe and secure.
My thoughts of you are holy and pure
The angels marvel at a love so grand;
That was orchestrated by God, that comes from His hand.
A love that takes the lost and makes them found;
That has lifted the sinner to higher ground.
That molds, shapes, leads, and guides,
That cleanses and makes new and moves inside.
My thoughts of you are so much more,
So wonderful are the things in store.
Your heart, your mind, and your whole being will one day fully know,
The love of God for your soul.
My thoughts toward you, is a light that perpetually shines.
My love for you is favor… for you are mine.
My provisions are not sparse my friend.
What you need I will send.
I see everything that ahead you face;
Truly sufficient for you is my grace.

2Co 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Whispered Promises By Brenda Drake

This poem ministered to me when I was tempted to give up on my dream of writing my poetry  books for the Lord.  I still reread it to gather strength to continue on to receive all I believe our Lord whispered as His will within me.   Perhaps it will encourage you to grab on to the hope of the dreams He has planted in your heart too.

Whispered Promise By Brenda Drake

I know what Jesus whispered in my heart years ago,
Some very wonderful things He wanted me to know,
Words of encouragement of what is ahead for me.
Such wonderful, far-reaching things He wanted me to see.
I keep them safe-inside…. These jewels of hope ahead.
I have placed them in His care to bring about the things He has said.
I have occasionally brought them again to my God in prayer,
Almost, as if to remind Him that they were still there.
In troubled times, I bring them out to cause my heart cheer,
Along with sweet memories of answered prayers drawn near.
I am still waiting for some of them – it still is not the right time.
I know He is doing a work in me so I fit into His designs.
When the evil one says, “Forget about it – it will not come to pass,”
That is when I praise God for the ability to look ahead – not back.
His love is faithful, and on His knowledge of my future, I depend.
I am so sure… I will take them out now and rejoice over them again!

Blessed By brenda Drake

blessedI_give_you_me_by_Nilopher

         I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving for all the Lord has done for me.  This poem expresses just the tip of the iceberg of my blessings.

Blessed

Lost…I was not looking but then,
I was found by Him.
Blind I could not see,
But then He showed Himself to me.
Separated …a branch on a wild olive tree;
But then I was grafted  made a part of His family.
All praise and glory is His…I am born anew.
In Him and His power I breathe and move.
His word is my nourishment …by His love I am restored.
I am well blessed by my risen Lord.
Every day is one step closer to the day,
He comes to take me away.
But until that time I’ve a work to do for Him.
His will I seek as each day begins.
I am blessed beyond words for I’ve such peace inside.
No longer need I fear and from God to hide.
I am able to enter into His presence and to sit at His feet;
As I look forward to His promise to dance on heaven’s streets.
My requests are heard as I come in Jesus name.
My heart is heard as His wonders I proclaim.
The world’s fearsome threats I offer to Him in prayer,
Then in faith, I leave them there.
For He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood;
And I now trust Him wholly; for I know He plans only for my good.

 1Peter 1:23
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever

Romans 5:8 9
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Testings’ by Brenda Drake

In our troubling times our patience is indeed tested.  I admit I could use grace in this area.  With Irma in Florida and perhaps more hurricanes in our future, floods in     Texas, fires in Montana, along with the unstableness of our world we all need more of God’s strength within.  I am so thankful our Lord is loving and patient with us.   Lord give us more of your love so in whatever trouble strikes our life we are able to still show the way of salvation to the lost, and Your love to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Testings’

In troubled times when things are rough,
Do you dig in deep, but in faith look up?
Or do you as a tiny baby fuss and cry loud,
As you make yourself heard in a crowd?
Grumbling and complaining as you push and shove;
A test failed in patience and love.
In your trials are you so anxious and upset you are unable to see,
Another’s problem and their needs?
Did you miss opportunity to show God’s strength within;
So another too would learn to trust in Him?
Perhaps you faltered at the start,
But in the end you had change of heart.
What truly mattered was those you love are safe and sound,
And the precious place of peace and harmony was again found.
Perhaps you were tested and failed and did not act, say or do right.
And you began to struggle and put up a fight.
Take heart, in the troubled times you have surely passed the test
When the One you love most is the strength and victory confessed.
